Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

You realize that those are sample pictures of a single sample planet, right? I'm sure there's much more diversity. Besides, that was the beta. They haven't even worked out all of the programs yet, let alone models.

There is no Spore 2. They're releasing Darkspore, which is a step backwards, in my opinion.

And I sincerly doubt there will be a Mass Effect 3 any time within three years.

I have a funny feeling this game may end up being much smaller/less sophisticated in the final release.

I've got a feeling we'll be luck if we ever get that much. Still, one can dream.

Apparently Darkspore is just going to be a more realistic version of Spore and it will include the underwater stage which was cut last minute by devs

Infinity looks graphically amazing. As pointed out, that particular experimental ship was far too slow, and handled a bit too jet-like in space.

I hope it has the customisability of ME or Spore while maintaining those graphics. Commanding a dreadnought sounds fun- i just want to bombard uninhabited worlds and laugh.

Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea.

From the interview I saw Darkspore will be nothing of the sort, it's an RPG.

I still don't think the ship was slow.

In games, we expect ships which can travel from planet to planet in minutes.

Well the movie title said "pre-alpha tech." I don't know whether they're referring to the game itself, which wouldn't make sense because you would make a beta long before a "pre-alpha," or the ship. I would assume that if you can control enormous military freighters and warships then you could get larger, faster craft.
We should all aspire to die surrounded by our dearest friends. Just like Julius Caesar.

"The Lord Universe said: 'The same fate I have given to all things from stones to stars, that one day they shall become naught but memories aloft upon the winds of time. From dust all was born, and to dust all shall return.' He then looked upon His greatest creation, life, and pitied them, for unlike stars and stones they would soon learn of this fate and despair in the futility of their own existence. And so the Lord Universe decided to give life two gifts to save them from this despair. The first of these gifts was the soul, that life might more readily accept their fate, and the second was fear, that they might in time learn to avoid it altogether." - Excerpt from a Chanagwan creation myth, Legends and Folklore of the Planet Ghar, collected and published by Yieju Bai'an, explorer from the Celestial Commonwealth of Qonming

Well, the bigger the ship the bigger the engine. The bigger the engine...

Have they released info about how customisable, etc. it is? Surely those would be the first things they want to promote.

If it handles like a jet, the physics aren't realistic...

That's what they did to Spore to the graphics, underwater stage, tribal hut editor, the creature stage (it used to be realistic, but then they made it into nests instead), and some stuff in the space stage (like dropping an animal in an atmosphere-less planet caused it to explode). Can't they let games be?
