| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. Behold, Infinity, the game of my dreams. It's an open-ended MMO that features a life-size, procedurally generated galaxy filled with billions of stars and billions of worlds. It's totally unrestricted; you can go anywhere and do anything. Every planet is to scale, and every celestial body you encounter can be completely and totally explored. Not only that, but it's an active universe; the galaxy rotates, planets rotate and orbit their stars, there's even active ecosystems of flora and fauna on Earth-like planets. It has no classes and no races; your destiny is entirely up to you. You can conquer worlds, build mighty corporate empires, become a space pirate, merchant, explorer, or anything else your heart desires. This is by far the biggest and most ambitious game ever developed, dwarfing the scale that was established by Spore a few years ago. Just look at it in action. Not only that but the world is persistent, meaning that your character will continue to be influenced by things occurring in the game even while you are offline. It's still a long way from being released, but I hope I'm not the only one here who is practically drooling over this game. How often do you get the chance to explore the galaxy from the comfort of your own home? |

We should all aspire to die surrounded by our dearest friends. Just like Julius Caesar. "The Lord Universe said: 'The same fate I have given to all things from stones to stars, that one day they shall become naught but memories aloft upon the winds of time. From dust all was born, and to dust all shall return.' He then looked upon His greatest creation, life, and pitied them, for unlike stars and stones they would soon learn of this fate and despair in the futility of their own existence. And so the Lord Universe decided to give life two gifts to save them from this despair. The first of these gifts was the soul, that life might more readily accept their fate, and the second was fear, that they might in time learn to avoid it altogether." - Excerpt from a Chanagwan creation myth, Legends and Folklore of the Planet Ghar, collected and published by Yieju Bai'an, explorer from the Celestial Commonwealth of Qonming Tree That Owns Itself

Isn't this like EVE online? Besides the fact that the ship was so SLOW it's an awesome game (a whole lot better than Spore!). |

I was going to make a slightly snide comment about this being just like Spore, EVE and Star Trek Online combined. Then he entered the rings. When this comes out, assuming it does and at that time we're all still here, anyone feel like checking this game out together? And the ship wasn't slow. Space is just vast, I'm sure their is a hyperdrive or warp for interstellar travel. |

Ill happily check it out as long as they include intersting alien ecosystems and not the boring bland planets shown in screenshots... |

It has Newtonian physics. So it has the physics of real life. |

So does X-wing, it just has the newtonian physics of a fighter plane... I doubt things like orbital dynamics are modelled, or Dv budgets, or transit times... |

The trees are the same on every planet! I would get very quickly bored of looking at generic planets all moderately covered in procedurally generated pine trees No my friends Spore 2 should be good But!!!! Mass Effect 3 will blow your mind
