| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! http://donjon.bin.sh/world/ I found the website while finishing Dynamic Projects (only the last 2 pages of the Habitable Zone left). It's really powerful, you can do things such as set the ice and water percentage. Also, you can make the image up to 2500x2000 pixels, and the world can be square, spherical, even spinning. Really useful if you want to make a world, just remember to save the seed number. |

Kinda neat. It even has a star-system generator feature. |

It also has other generators in the website, like a sci-fi name generator. |

You have to save the images yourself. Anyway I recommend to upload it somewhere else, rather than here. |

The maps are a bit too fractal for my liking. Perhaps they're good for inspiration, but they really don't show real processes like tectonics, etc. As for the system generator it's quite impressive, you may want to look into the program StarGen (it's named something like that) that works in planetary attributes and orbits based on scientific data and simulations. |
| A hard mathematical figure provides a sort of enlightenment to one's understanding of an idea that is never matched by mere guesswork. | |

Agreed, and it also doesn't show realistic ice coverage in relation to land coverage. It could make a good starting point but you'd probably be best setting ice to 0 an doing that bit yourself and re-drawing everything to make it look less fractal and explain the plate tectonics. |
