Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

So you're say that he can take on something with the power and resilience of a crocodile and the intelligence of a human?

Of course aliens might kill us all because they think we could develop into a threat. There were more than a few people who wanted to kill all the Chinese about a century ago for exactly the same reason.

Sometimes to have to bombard a planet from orbit to make an omelette. Wait...

I went for a bit of a ramble today, or hike as they say in the colonies and messed about with my walking stick.

I think I need to get in some practice with Javelin. I've still got the muscle memory, but it need refining.
I was throwing a walking stick though. I'd need to make a new one. Just in case I need a projectile weapon.
I could probably make a bow nearly as easily as a good javelin, but to become a good bowmen you really need to start training two generations ago, every week.

I also need to practice getting under barbed wire more.

Zombies in L4D don't have intelligence. They're more like animals.

Maybe, but to be a really good archer you need to train constantly. To be able to wield a longbow or composite bow you need to start when you are young and keep at it for the rest of your life.

There is very little good yew for making longbows in the UK anyway, we are too cold and damp for it. We'd need to set up Plantations in Iberia and Southern France, and yew grows really, really slowly.

It's still probably going to take a generation or two to create a really effective force of longbowmen.

Javelins are much simpler, and against mugs with bats and shovels would be more than good enough.

Animals without a pain response?
Essentially. They don't stop if you blast their arms off.

Zombies in L4D don't have intelligence. They're more like animals.
They have the inteligence they need to infect those that aren't immune to the Green Flu.

And the Common Infected are the ones that're too stupid to try to save them selves from death.

If you blast their arms off? So they lack nerves? Losing a large amount of their nervous system that sends a horrific amount of feedback doesn't even slightly disorientate them?
