Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

If I was putting together the ultimate team to fight off non-shambling zomie hordes, I'd have a group of Ghurkas with me - awsome fighters...

A Kukri does seem like a pretty handy weapon when dealing zombies. If it can chop the heads of mutinying Hindus it can do the same with the undead.

If I was in a zombie apocalypse, I would go and ask to get the Jurrasic park scenario for a bit, tame some oviraptors or something that can crack a zombie's head open but won't destroy me or (more importantly) my stuff by accident, swap back to the zombie apocalypse with my raptors, and watch them kill anything that isn't the main Main Character. And I'd be the main Main Character.

Would a club be better for zombies than a sword?

As for dinosaurs, there's a chance they'll get zombified.

Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea.

A club would be slightly better for the unskilled but most clubs are meant not to kill.

I do art sometimes.

Projects:
Amammalia: A strange place where mammals didn't make it and the land is, once again, dominated by archosaurs.

Oceanus: An endless sea dotted with islands, reefs, and black holes. Literally endless, literal black holes.

Anyone here read John Skipp's "Zombies" ?

It's a reprint of earlier anthologies he's put together - my favourites are stories by Joe R Lansdale (biker "chic"?) and Steven R Boyett... Boyett's "Like Pavlov's Dogs" is a revelation... that simple short story, to the point, with a hot asian chic (Asian chics are ALWAYS hot) as the "superior" protagonist is the duck's nuts... she's awsome, sure I'd like to fuck her, but I'd be happy just being Marly's friend...

And before anyone asks, yes - Australia is like a post apocalypse.... seriously... I've piloted my Hardley Dangerous thru deserted towns, red brick walls of houses between red brick paddocks, cinemas last showed movies before Jaws franchise even thought of 3D or SenssurOUND.... Drive in theatres choked with acacia weeds the size of fucking trees... some old fuck on his front verandah chewing straw - do you think I am gonna stop and ask directions? thank fuck for 5 gallon tanks and fuel injection..

Australia invented and nurtured post-apocalypse tropes, with Mad Max 1 and Mad Max II (better known to USA as "The Road Warrior"....

Much of our national highways haven't changed since then... lovely aint it?

Oh are they? Aztec clubs! :P
Anyway, those before swords and axes used clubs to kill prey and that.

As for dinosaurs, there's a chance they'll get zombified.

Not if the zombies are "infected" and not undead. If it were an ifection the virus would only be dangerous to some modern day species, not prehistoric families.
"You shall perish, whatever you do! If you are taken with arms in your hands, death! If you beg for mercy, death! Whichever way you turn, right, left, back, forward, up, down, death! You are not merely outside the law, you are outside humanity. Neither age nor sex shall save you and yours. You shall die, but first you shall taste the agony of your wife, your sister, your sons and daughters, even those in the cradle! Before your eyes the wounded man shall be taken out of the ambulance and hacked with bayonets or knocked down with the butt end of a rifle. He shall be dragged living by his broken leg or bleeding arm and flung like a suffering, groaning bundle of refuse into the gutter. Death! Death! Death!"

Your forgetting that those clubs were more saw than club, obsidian is an odd weapon. And most clubs aren't meant to kill and even the ones meant to have trouble doing in one hit.

Clubs were never used on the hunt as a main weapon, that's suicide or to heavy.

Clubs aren't used as weapons? The Zulu, Masai, Aborigines, First Nations and others would disagree with that.

Both throwing clubs and ones used in close combat have long been used for hunting and warfare, quite effectively.

And against armoured opponents something big and heavy is ideal.
