| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! The PRC is damned close to being a superpower. Sure things can be rough in rural areas but it's a very developed nation. Grey areas are where nobody is really in charge. There are gangs, and some towns still holding things together, but otherwise they are lawless. And this is Alternate history, the USA and China's relations don't improve and China takes a more aggressive stance. Speaking of post-apocalyptic, these are pretty good. http://althistory.wikia.com/wiki/1983:_Doomsday http://escapepod.org/2008/04/24/ep155-tideline/ http://escapepod.org/2006/03/16/ep045-are-you-ready-for-the-end-of-the-world/ Edited by lamna, Feb 23 2011, 07:01 AM.

No because they leave no chance of survival. Unless you're a god. |

Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea. "It is the old wound my king. It has never healed."

If you had to kit out a five-man team for the zombie apocalypse, what woudl you give them? I'd give each a Browning Hi-Power, an M4 carbine, a Machete, and a hand axe. Frag grenades too- maybe one member can have an automatic weapon. Mines too. Ones which can be deactivated and moved. Motorcycle leather for the body, and an environmental mask perhaps. A dog, with some kind of protection. It barks when zombies approach! IR or night vision. For power, perhaps one member can carry a solar panel, and the batteries for equipment can be charged from it? For transport, something with a good economy and that isn't too small. |

Mines? Barbaric and dangerous in my opinion. Forget where you hide it and half a century later and it could still kill. |

Well, you know how the thinking goes Lamna, if it doesn't affect me or my family...Magni, Vili, Vi, etc.? Some get resurrected, dammit! Baldr, for example. |

Anyone watch Discovery's "The Colony" ? They always have some whiny late 40s guy - if i was in a group of people post apocalypse and there was a whiny late 40s guy in the group, one of my first steps would be to kill the whiny late 40s guy - or maybe just tolerate his whininess until food stocks get low, then kill him and eat him... I'm a late 40s guy, but not a whiner... |

Magoo, stop whining about whiny guys, its whiny. |

"You shall perish, whatever you do! If you are taken with arms in your hands, death! If you beg for mercy, death! Whichever way you turn, right, left, back, forward, up, down, death! You are not merely outside the law, you are outside humanity. Neither age nor sex shall save you and yours. You shall die, but first you shall taste the agony of your wife, your sister, your sons and daughters, even those in the cradle! Before your eyes the wounded man shall be taken out of the ambulance and hacked with bayonets or knocked down with the butt end of a rifle. He shall be dragged living by his broken leg or bleeding arm and flung like a suffering, groaning bundle of refuse into the gutter. Death! Death! Death!"
