Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

so what's everyone's favourite zombie type then?

I preferred the ones in 28 Days Later... fast - but only at dusk and night or out of the sun... they're obviously photophobic - I know all about that - I got meningitis once, got hospitalised, took the first year med students about 6 goes to get a spinal tap to sample for virus VS bacteria VS amoeba...After I'd been treated with huge shots of pethedine (mmmmm pethedine sugar!) and something to drop my temperature, I had to wear sunglasses all the time in hospital, couldn't stand any form of light...

I hated how in 28 Weeks Later - all of a sudden the zombies are active in full sunlight!

Hopefully 28 months later, with Danny Boyle back in the director's chair, it will be as good as the first movie....

I think that's film is happening in Russia.

Another helpful hint, when the end comes, don't go to Russia. Sure Russia survives and usually wins, but they always loose about half of all the people killed. Plus Russia's full of Neo-Bolshevicks and a generation who only know their country used to be much bigger, more powerful and the state gave you more stuff, not all the nasty stuff.

I don't have much of a preference between super-rabies zombies and walking corpse zombies, but I prefer they have a biological cause.

Whichever one is easier to shoot, dammit!

Internet me: Fast zombies. I need a challenge. I want to strand astride a mountain of their corpses with naught but an axe like a new colossus, lighting the way to a better future. My future

Real me: The ones I can run away from!

Real me: The ones I can run away from!
Left 4 dead me: The ones I can run away from!
"You shall perish, whatever you do! If you are taken with arms in your hands, death! If you beg for mercy, death! Whichever way you turn, right, left, back, forward, up, down, death! You are not merely outside the law, you are outside humanity. Neither age nor sex shall save you and yours. You shall die, but first you shall taste the agony of your wife, your sister, your sons and daughters, even those in the cradle! Before your eyes the wounded man shall be taken out of the ambulance and hacked with bayonets or knocked down with the butt end of a rifle. He shall be dragged living by his broken leg or bleeding arm and flung like a suffering, groaning bundle of refuse into the gutter. Death! Death! Death!"

Another helpful hint - IF life was like Hollywood Movies - make sure there's a black guy or an asian guy (no offence intended to our African or Asian brothers) - because in Hollywood movies, the black guy always gets killed off first (unless it's Danny Glover) - and if there's no "Token Black", then there's usually an Asian that gets it.

The Walking Dead is a pretty good miniseries - can't wait for Season 2. Hard to believe the lead actor is a British actor, he was in a coupla pommy shows, "This Life" (which I used to watch quite a bit) and Teachers.

Say you have an SA80, and you shoot it in the

arm- loses use of arm, loss of bodily fluids
leg- cannot walk, loss of bodily fluids
chest- impact causes complete organ failure, loss of the majoirty of bodily fluids
pelvis- impact stops walking and causes loss of the majority of bodily fluids
head- HEADSHOT they can't detect you and lose bodily fluids.

I assume 'reanimation' works through existing organs.

I just wanna put this out SA-80s are pretty accurate and reliable... perfect zombie survival weapon. Another useful thing is the scopes arent electronic so no worries about batteries. 5.56mm ammo is fairly common as well. That gun can get all sorts of shit down it. I teach 12 year olds how to maintain and use it so its not hard. All round great gun.

I'll let you in on it Magoo, as you seem alright. It's all part of Operation Pelayo. The way though the American's heart is though the media. So American versions of British shows are being brought in, and British actors are going incognito into American shows. Its just the first step in rehabilitation and it's going to take a long time, but we'll sort them out in the end.

And the Walking Dead was a pretty good show. It's nice to see zombies being played straight sometimes. No political or moral statement and no sillyness. I like the sillyness too but you can't have it all the time.

Iamna - Is that the same operation that has Aussies like Guy Pearce, Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe supplanting Scientologists as hollywood action heroes?

And good thing about The Walking Dead, the "token asian guy" survived to the end of Series One - both my daughters have a thing for cute Japanese and Korean guys (no Cephy - you CANNOT date my daughter, unless you're a millionaire and own a Learjet).

Does anyone here read the graphic novels? Does the series follow the comics closely?
------------------------------
I couldn't bare the American version of The Office, I hate Ricky Gervais with a passion, but he was hilarious at the golden globes, and I love the English version (the ORIGINAL) of The Office - and Ricky Gervais, to me, is slightly less objectionable than Steve Carel.

Did any of you US guys ever catch that Zombies In the Big Brother Household UK miniseries - it was brilliant!
