Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

Look before we start talking about how we are going to kill zombies we need to get it strait which type we are talking about:

Solanum infected zombies: Slow moving only killed by headshot even if spine is broken can still bite and infect, only humans can be infected bites are deadly to animals. Both chemical warfare (zombies dont breathe) and biological warfare (virus cannot infect dead tissue and animals will always run from solanum infectees than fight). Takes 48 hours after initial contact for the victim to turn. Transmissable to other species

Rage Virus: Fast animalistic behaviours, very fast infection. Strong and fast although dont have the stamina solanum infectees do. Shows very limited intelligence. Chemical warfare highly effective due to metabolism

Modified Cancer vaccine (I am Legend): Another type of fast zombie, airbourne virus and it is bite transferable although most who are not immune completely would have died in the airbourne outbreak. Transmissable to other species dogs, rats and horses are all confirmed. Fast and strong and capable of problem solving and construction of traps through imitation.Weak against UV light and only come out at night.

So you're say that he can take on something with the power and resilience of a crocodile and the intelligence of a human?
Crocodiles have a hard enough time moving quickly on land as it is, let alone covered in debris. I hardly call that human intelligence.
What does a relative lack of
terrestrial locomotive ability have to do with intelligence?

Also, if zombies don't breathe, how the hell do they move?

Simple, it's not that they don't breathe period, it's just breathe so rarely they might as well not be from a tactical point of view. Though, these zombie would be of the slow variety.

Or it's a creature inside the dead body using it like a puppet, and breathe gases that come out during decay, and kills to create habitats for it's offspring since it would die when those gases run out. Since respiration would take place inside the body, then no outside gases would have much of an effect as long as the body was air tight.

Yes i like that idea Temporary Solanum is very similar to that where it is transferred through a bite and the virus travels through the blood stream strait to the brain. Once in the brain the virus starts to produce proteins and forms a strange organ in the frontal lobe. This organ takes over the brain and operates independantly from the rest of the body. Imagine a sort of parasite which can surivive by itself in the frontal lobe. The rest of the body is dead apart from this organ thus only headshots can kill. A solanum zombie can operate without a heart of lungs. The only it will stop apart from destruction of the head is through the natural decompostion of the body, although this is a much slowed process due to very few bacteria actually being solanum tolerant. Pretty much solanum creates a self-sustaining organism which requires nothing, it is unknown why zombies actually feed as they gain no nutritional benefit from eating and have been observed to attempt to eat without a stomach or the lower half of the body.
I probably have not explained that well just read the article on it ^_^

Hence strategic bombing. If nobody lives there, you don't need the city.
No because alot of a city is underground and thus you need people to clean up after a strategic bombing....
Just remember what happened to all those diver squads cleaning the Paris catacombs in WWZ....

Thank you somebodys read it
Yes i would hate to be one of those guys clearing out the catacombs. See the russians in the book bombed their cities flat and then attemted to clear them. It ended in disaster because the zombies would be still sctive and under the rubble and would just reach out and bite soldiers. The English had the best plan just hold out in castles and wait until they rot ^_^

Well that sounds like a pretty poor plan if you are using existing fortifications, most are pretty tumbled down and a lot of people.

And the bombing plan would work best against the rage types, which were the ones I was talking about.

Gas is still a terrible idea, look at the times it has been used in modern combat. The times it was effective it was not the magic bullet chemists promised it to be. Making and deploying gas weapons is going to be a waste of resources.
I mean if you have to fight rebels or bandits as well as the zombies, I'd rather a surplus of artillery shells or conventional bombs to use on them, rather than decide between giving them an agonising death and getting international condemnation, or letting them win.

Well, actually, didn't the Queen survived all the crisis inside Windsor Castle?

Anyway, if i recall, some people in England actually upgraded a castle, reinforcing walls and making them fit to hold a population.
America had the worst part of the WWZ... Battle of Yonkers, anyone?

But...cat ears?
You have to ask Zarla herself. She probably thought that the cat ears let you seee her playful personality. At least while she wasn't infected.

If its the slow rotting corpse type zombies, maybe scientists could test and see if feeding them to rats causes them to become infected. If not, then they could release hundreds of thousands of rats into a overrun area. The rats are too small for the uncoordinated zombies to remove from their bodies. The rats reproduce and feed off the zombies until only the rats remain. Then the rats are caught and given baths so personel don't get sick from them, then the rats are moved to another city.

Another idea is to release wild boar and domestic pigs to eat the zombies.

I agree with colddigger. You must eat the zombies. That way, you gain their powers.

Castles still can't hold anywhere near the population of the UK, even if you rammed people in shoulder to shoulder.

If you can fit the entire populatoin of the U.S. into and area the size of Delaware, then you can fit far fewer Brits into Wales. They won't mind.
