Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

It's a nice shade of red, but all the mashed skin is going to make it look kinda funny.

Oh and the light up moss makes sense. It's a message to predators saying "There is something standing on me. Eat it" Thus the moss gets protected from things that would eat it.

That might be quite a chancey defence mechanism.
Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea.

Or it could just be funky carpet from the era before the Na'vi went back to being tribal.

I think that after the humans left, they just had a giant disco in the forest. Eveyr living thing.

If there is any sequel, I'd like to see one where Eywa is the villain.

It'd play out something like this: Jake's human friends are having a difficult time adjusting to Pandora, more so than should be normal. At the same time, a human ship crash-lands onto Pandora, and the survivors recount a horrid tale of plants taking over their city. Soon, it is revealed that Eywa had hidden within her a "virus": an omnicidal consciousness determined to wipe out anything that challenges its authority, including the Na'Vi and humans. It's up to Jake to battle this sinister menace before it destroys everything he holds dear.

Yes love it partially informed although you need two things:
the extinction of the Na'vi (dont dramatise it though)
and napalm being dropped everywhere and lots of explosions killing every single little smurf :D :D :D :D

But that'd be a Downer Ending, and we can't have that. This series seems much more prone to a lot of misery in the middle, then an idealized happy ending.

I wouldn't find it a downer. As long as there were chicks and large caliber firearms.

Yeah... I am sure you are going to have success fighting a planetary biosphere with... arrows?

Seriously though, I'd love to see the Na'vi depicted as having problems. As well as Jake starting to miss his humanity, having a realistic relationship with Neytiri, etc. And the humans can come back and save the Earth (though hopefully a bit more carefully).

I'm sure Cameron would be able to do that and still keep the hordes of fanboys happy though (the Na'vi are truely good people, etc etc).

Or he could make the whole thing worthwhile with more scenery porn of the ISV.
