| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. 15 million years from now, this world looks very different. The resulting Global Warming of Yester Year, has put the Planet on a collision course against itself, in an attempt to reset. As the world heated in the Human Era, attempts at cleaner fuel choices failed, and ultimately the world grew warm, and dry. The Oceans heated, and frozen Methane erupted to the surface resulting a small Ice Age. The result of the madness? The HC-Extinction. Humans died out, as they fought each other for water and various other items. The Final Humans hung to rivers, and eventually died out. The mini Ice Age, would soon send the world into a new era of life, one that is man free. A stronger, and greater Ice Age ripped the planet, but things are set to warm as the final throughs of the Ice Age begin to leave, and a hotter era will soon start, that in turn bringing its own extinctions along. -- Hi, some of you may remember my last two project, which evidently died out as life got in the way of both. However, I have free time now, for a while, and plan on making a return. This new project; The Future is Barbaric, follows life on Earth 15, 95, and 195 million years into a future after the brought on death of Humanity. This Earth at the starting year, 15 myh, is at the end of a Ice Age, the world is slowly heating, but for now it is relatively cold. Reptiles have taken a massive hit in the Ice Age, and Amphibians hold on to the brink. If there was something on the endangered list during the humans time, then it is extinct. Some large mammals died out during the Human Era, other during the Ice Age. This however, left niches open. And this world is still a world dominated by Mammals. Creeping graslands for me, Ome! (I can call you Ome, right?) |

Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea. "It is the old wound my king. It has never healed." | |

I'd say to close the "poll" now. So, what kind of animals will be in the Creeping Grasslands? |

Alright poll closed then. The Creeping Grasslands come from the last threshholds of inner Prarie that stayed. The advancing Deciduous and Taiga forests on all corners, has led a higher tree rate, and has transformed the North American Praries into, the North American Grasslands. Now that the climate is warming slightly, and more rains are reaching the American Desert, the Creeping Grasslands, and its creatures have begun to "creep" onto the continent. The Taxidae Grandus, or the Grand Badger, has adapted to a more "savanah" like enviroment. With the absense of other large predators, this burrower has become an Apex predator. Evolving from the American Badger, it has kept similiar characteristics, however it has grown in size. At about six feet long, these critters are tough to fight off. The American Badger dug burrows, and ate other burrowing animals. The Grand Badger uses the same technique, however only in the winter, when they migrate North in the winter, into the Taiga. With an advanced sense of smell, once in the Taiga, they smell out hibernating animals, attack, eat, and then use the animals den or burrow for the night. In the summer, while in the Grasslands, they use the tall grass' to skillfully ambush herbivores. What do you think? I like it. |

Yes an apex predator, that hunts medium to large animals. The description says it has grown, it is six feet long, about 5 feet tall, and weighs considerably more. Its digging claws have extended and serve as hunting claws now as well, swiping at grazzing herbivours. |
