| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! I'm making a alternate history where with the point of divergence during the first half of WW1, where Germany manages win the war in the West by 1916. My question is, since then what species could have been saved had things played out a little differently? For one I think that with the Ottomans keeping things stable in the middle east, that things like the Syrian Ass would still be with us. I'm not sure about the Caspian tigers, they would have not suffered the extermination programs of the regions as there was very little government in the region from the 20's to the 90's, but that would mean no national parks either. http://lamnay.deviantart.com/gallery/#Pax-Germania http://lamnay.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d2s4zwr Edited by lamna, Jun 20 2010, 04:31 AM.

Possibly, I'm thinking that the Vietnamese Rhino did much better. There was some violence in Indochina in the 20th century, but nothing like the Vietnam war. |

Well capsian tigers are considered virtually identical to Siberian tigers now, so if they were killed off you could have reintroduction programs in your timeline. |

I wish I could give the public a true picture of the queen as she appeared at her best, but this would be impossible, even had she permitted a photograph to be taken, for her charming play of expression while in conversation, the character and intellect which were then revealed, were only half seen when the face was in repose. -Lilias Underwood when speaking of Empress Myeongseong "I was born in the dark. I went out into the light, and your Majesty, it is my displeasure to inform you that I have returned to the dark. I envision a Seoul of towering buildings filled with Western establishments that will place herself back above the Japanese barbarians. Great things lie ahead for the Kingdom, great things. We must take action, your Majesty, without hesitation, to further modernize this still ancient kingdom."-Min Young-ik to Empress Myeongseong | |

That would probably happen in the Pax Germania timeline too, the Eastern front went on longer as the Central Powers tried to prevent the Bolsheviks gaining the upper-hand and give the Whites time to organise, though the Białowieża Forest would enjoy much more stability after the war and the Kingdom of Poland and Belarusian People’s Republic would most likely want to preserve this national treasure, and if they did not the Germans could "encourage" them. |
