| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! I have been keeping up with this project and have also been impressed by how well-thought out the species are. Good job. |

Agreed! Keep up the good work! Can't wait to see more! I enjoy your autotrophic Kingdom! I particularly like how it shows that even though it has the same niche, it is biologically extremely different from Earth's multicellular autotrophs. |

Very imaginative and awesome; great job! I have to ask, though, were squid-whales at least in part inspired by the Speculative Dinosaur Project's Baleen squids? |

No, it must be another weird coincidence. The squid whales are basically the first species I came up with, about a year ago, while I know about the dinosaur project only for some months. Squid whales were actually inspired by squids, fish and some old bodyplan sketches. |

To me, the squid-whales aren't too much like Spec. To me, they just look like highly derived, multi-eyed squids. |

Amazing project! My one suggestion is I haven't come across any overall explanation of how it all ties together: ecology, setting, taxonomic relationships. I'd love to see something that lets me know, in an image or small write-up, what this project is all about. |

Same here, I'd like to know too. What makes it a "Red Earth"? What sort of planet is it on? Is there a summary of the major climate zones and biomes? |
