Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

Kinda makes me wonder what would happen if anybody had to live in the world of thirty+ years ago... I remember when we got our first computer... Green and black screen. Everything ran off of 5.5" floppies...

I remember the age of floppies. Then I got a computer with more than 512 MB of memory, and then I switched to CDs (mainly because the floppies didn't work anymore, but also that it could only hold 512 KB-2 MB, I can't remember)

I've seen a duststorm in the distance, does that count?

Here in South California it doesn't snow much. But I have seen snow!!!.... far away on the mountaintops. Only place outside of South California I've ever been to was Arizona and Mexico. Bummer, right?

I think dust devils (as we call them) are fascinating.

Mini-tornadoes, essentially. They're common in deserts and dusty plains. I've been caught in a few myself. It's wild!

Yep!

And I lived in California for two years as a missionary. I never wore anything more than a light jacket to stave off the cold, but certainly colder than your neck of the woods.

Dust devils are funnel shaped wind stuff filled with wind. Happens a lot on freeway sides.

Here in California it's not as mild as you think. During the depths of winter sometimes it goes below freezing DURING the day, and at night there is always a thick fog. And in the Summer it always peaks at at least 90, but that's just a low summer. It usually goes to 110-115 in the day. Once it went past 125 (at least I think it did). It was crazy hot.

personally i think im lucky, i have a house in sydney and in the country, so i get a wide range of experiences and meet lots of people. y'know how some people think you can ride kangaroos, let me tell you something.kangaroos have claws, yep not as nice as some people think!
australia gets crazy hot as well. my place in the country gets 110 ( i think) in the shade during some summers

I saw footage of a kangaroo attacking some guy in a big monster suit. Everybody else thought it was funny until they realized the man in the suit was screaming.
