| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! At all? |

Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea. "It is the old wound my king. It has never healed." | |

Fair enough. What do you do in those circumstances? |

What pisses me off is these snake church people who live around here. They're a crazy sect of Christians who "baptize" themselves and their children by purposely being bitten by incredibly venomous snakes. If you die, well, you didn't really believe so you deserved it. And it's all perfectly legal around here according to the Kansas courts. |

We should all aspire to die surrounded by our dearest friends. Just like Julius Caesar. "The Lord Universe said: 'The same fate I have given to all things from stones to stars, that one day they shall become naught but memories aloft upon the winds of time. From dust all was born, and to dust all shall return.' He then looked upon His greatest creation, life, and pitied them, for unlike stars and stones they would soon learn of this fate and despair in the futility of their own existence. And so the Lord Universe decided to give life two gifts to save them from this despair. The first of these gifts was the soul, that life might more readily accept their fate, and the second was fear, that they might in time learn to avoid it altogether." - Excerpt from a Chanagwan creation myth, Legends and Folklore of the Planet Ghar, collected and published by Yieju Bai'an, explorer from the Celestial Commonwealth of Qonming Tree That Owns Itself

I don't know, they're pretty secretive. And I should point out that by children I mean offspring, not literal children. You have to be 16 to do the snake thing, since that's the age of consent in Kansas. But I don't think that most 16 year old kids know exactly how dangerous and stupid the ritual is. It's barbaric. |

I have a new one now, vegetarians who are vegetarians just because they don't like animals for food, yet still consume dairy products. To produce milk a cow has to have a calf, and aside from a few females to keep the herd going all are killed. Be vegan or don't be a hypocrite. Also people who oppose putting all those calves use as veal just because. I mean white veal is stupid, making the meat poorer quality and causing an animal to suffer just to make the meat whiter is a stupid thing to do. But just killing the calves and burning the carcasses or turning it into petfood is such a waste. |

I never had the urge to have potentially deadly snakes be anywhere near me when I was tripping. If anything they're probably on meth, there's a lot of that around here. |
