Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

Through the Speculative-Evolution Deviantart group, I uncovered this:River Cat (Leon del Lago)

For those who won't bother with the artist's comments, it's a water-dwelling feline taking the role of a crocodile.

I want to know, could this come to pass?

Where did you contact him?
Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea.

On his DevArt page. He said that his account was deleted so he's not going back, but I told him it's still there. Hasn't replied back to that.

He didn't like the people back then. But the forum has changed.

I've actually asked most people who left to come back on their DevArt profile.

Dinosaurs eat man, woman inherits the Earth.

Pretty interesting creature he made. I doubt they could take a crocodillian niche (otters, even in North America) could easily take that. But I'm sure this could evolve on a smaller scale.

As for that quadropedal "parrot", I like it. But parrots are unlikely as ancestors. The only terrestrial parrot is the kea from New Zealand and that's going extinct. It would be far more likely to be descended from the hoatzin or some kind of galliform.

Well, in that case, kudos Viergacht! Very plausible. I even decided to do something similar with peacocks.

Very plausible... ... ...

Not necessarily. See quadrupedal birds topic in general spec.
