Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

What our descedants looks like? and its a open project

here is the time line for early XXI:
- 21-28 December 2012: the seven day pulage, human population droped from 6000000000 to 100000000 persons disaewas stoped and accidentaly the cure/vaccine for AIDS was invented

-2013-2015:during the prevention to extinction the wavers are ingenired, the waver is a post humans that lays eggs, thousants of eggs and this eggs are later revriten to be homo sapiens only a few are becoming new wavers

-2015:the creation of Domestic Human(Homo familiaris) they are selled in pet shops as very inteligent pets, however how something may be pet while it can speak with human languge, are inteligent as humans etc.

-2015-2020:the colonisation of mars and venus

so anybody interested?

1: Venus is too inhospitable for terraforming in less than 300 years, maybe longer. Same as Mercury.
2: Why do you have 2 stories about Venus? It's just a project, isn't it?
3: Any possible native lifeforms would be wiped out by the terraforming.
4: All the dates are too close. Seriously, YOU HAVE COLONISATION OF MERCURY AND JUPITER'S MOON 10 YEARS AFTER THE NEXT MANNED MISSION TO THE MOON WAS PLANNED ON HE! Way too close.
5: We can become a Type 1 civilization within 90 years.

1. curently there isn't any plans on terraforming Venus
2. because i wanted to be two waves on Venus
3. Venus is curently(in the project) dead
4. Seven day pulge changes our plans
5. 90 years hence is:
2010+90=2100 enough?

Dinosaurs eat man, woman inherits the Earth.

So you're saying there are currently no plans to terraform/colonize Venus. Then why do have it occurring so quickly?

Wait... so they have exactly the same mental faculty, and we're enslaving them? Not even a lobotomy or implants?
Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea.

Ok, this does not make sense on several levels;

Seven-day plague (is it plague?). I seriously doubt that a disease like that could kill the majority of the human population in a week. A disease that is to be successful needs a relatively long incubation period- it cannot kill instantly, since that would not allow it to be passed on to other hosts. And how is the cure for all diseases including AIDS (which is caused by HIV, incidentally) found accidentally? :O.o:

Engineered egg laying humans to avert extinction of the human race- why the hell do you need egg laying humans for this? 1 billion humans are perfectly able to survive. Our numbers have been depleted far more in the past, and look at us now...

Pet humans. Do you understand the ethical ramifications of this? Nobody would allow humans, even engineered humans, to be kept as pets. And I doubt many people would buy them either. An engineered monkey or ape might make more sense, but not a human.

I sincerely hope you are not talking about surface colonisation of Venus. Cloud top colonisation would be better, but it ain't gonna happen as soon as 2015. Same thing with 2030 colonisation of Mercury and the Jovian system.

Why would you need four arms to pilot a spacecraft? Do you understand spacecraft operation at all? It isn't like Star Wars.

Why do we need desert humans? The humans that currently live in deserts do just fine.

lolwut? And how did they get there, they must have had a fancy bathyscaph.

Why do we need centaurs to be great farmers and astronomers? Are combine harvesters and geeks in observatories not enough?

Or gay women? I don't really think straight women or gay men would apply to such an experiment.

It's "much much much more complex" for everyone. There are many attractive women that I'd never want to be in a relationship with, for example.

Honestly though, I think men are shallower than women. :P

BTW, for the manned Mars colonization, I'd say 2070 would be the best time for that. We're not going to send a manned mission to Mars until the 2030's. As for Venus colonization, no earlier than 2400. It's too hot and toxic of an environment right now and it would take quite a number of years for our tech to advance enough to even think about terraforming Venus.

No, we are (probably) not going to Mars in 2030. Obama's space plan throws Constellation (rightfully  ) in the bin, and before this it was pretty clear that it wouldn't work out as originally hoped- there was very little development on the Ares V rocket, and basically none on the lunar landing infrastructure. Mars missions were always a "yes if we get there" in Constellation, there was no concrete plan defined for it. The main goal of the program was really shuttle replacement and mulling about on the Moon.

But we have the technology for landing a man on Mars right now. 10 years should be a good bet given enough political interest, we went from the first flights to a moon landing in that sort of timeframe, and we know much more today. It won't be instant though, all sorts of research and development are needed. I would send an expendable crew though. ;)

Colonisation is a bit further off. Again, it doesn't require any major revelations in terms of technology. The greatest problems would be in terms of shipping people and supplies to Mars (a VASIMR engine might be up for the task) and operating a self sustaining habitat on the surface.

Venus, I agree that it's further off. But mainly because of the gravity well and the thick atmosphere. Colonising the surface is just stupid, but the cloud tops are quite habitable (save for the sulfuric acid, which a suitable polymer should be able to cope with). Breathable air is a lifting gas in the Venusian air, for example. So if built correctly habitats could be their own balloons, perhaps augmented by more traditional hydrogen or helium balloons - hydrogen is safe to use in the Venusian atmosphere, and both gases can be obtained from the atmosphere.

Terraforming Venus though, that is beyond any near future economy. Mars should be far easier (easier, on a planetary scale that is) and has far, far fewer technology challenges than Venus. We could probably terraform Mars with current or near-future technology. I'm not saying Venus cannot be done, just that it would be very difficult and Mars makes far more sense.

If they have rights WE WOULDN'T HAVE THEM AS PETS!

And honestly, what's the use of the Wavers? Live birth is good enough. If they were a genetic experiment gone bad they'd be okay, but not the ability to lay eggs with humans in them. And if they did the remaining waver eggs wouldn't be enough to keep them up, leaving humans giving birth to their own children a MUCH better option.

No, there is a difference between an animal and a sophont (practically a human, but unless we want to be interstellar racists it's best to be a bit more flexible). Having rights require have responsibilities; I would not give the right to life to a ciclid, for example, because it does not have the capability to understand responsibility.

Keeping a human against it's will is against human rights. Genetically engineering subsophont humans for such a purpose is plain sick.
