Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

I did. I'm surprised nobody really commented that much.

Are you going to do Morpha, Volvagia, and Bongo Bongo? Those would be tricky.
Sorry Link, I don't give credit. Come back when you're a little...MMMMMM...Richer.

They'll be easy compared to the baby dodongos. I'm still having trouble thinking of ideas for them.

Maybe it could be a dry-skinned basal tetrapod. It goes through a metamorphosis like most lissamphibians and basal tetrapods, but it is entirely land dwelling the whole time. The larval form is air-breathing and grows its limbs as it matures.

I don't like that idea. I would like to keep with the idea that they are reptilian.

With reptiles, growing limbs is a bit more difficult.

How about when young they have tiny underdeveloped legs like some skinks, except they are under the skin. Then they fully develop as they grow older. Fire breathing could be performed by a similar method as bombardier beetles. Sometimes bombardier beetles can explode if they don't have proper control, which could probably explain why dodongos explode when they die.

I'll go with under-developed legs on the outside of the body. Thanks, but I already use the Animal Planet explanation for fire-breathing.

What's the Animal Planet explanation for fire-breathing? Also how will you explain dondongos exploding when they die?

Platinum? That's kind of lame. Platinum deposits are rare, and what if they run out? Would they last long enough for hundreds of thousands of generations to use, evolve their fire-breathing system, and keep on using the platinum? Also with dodongos, how will you explain the exploding at death?

The combustible liquid system seems more practical and explains the exploding death.
