Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

It's the missing link between the swampus and the squibbon!

In the end, the best advice I could give you would be to do your project in a way that feels natural to you, rather than trying to imitate some geek with a laptop in Colorado.

It is a hoax? O NOES, I've been living all my life with a lie!
Joking.

Hmmm...dunno, i don't think octopuses could do for arboreal life (at least not in the spiderman-treeswinging-quickie style of the Squibbon); maybe some bizarre species of octopus-looking arthropod?

Go in there for some odd stuff that could make you puke, and ask for some free sketches. :)

Nice drawings!

Click- i've thought about this hoax before.
Arboreal is next best to marine.

But they need to sort out a hell of a lot- i mean, TERRESTRIAL CEPHALOPODS?

I refuse to comment until they are explained.
Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea.

The Pacific tree octopus? MUST. SAVE.

But really, tree octopi aren't that much of a stretch. It'd have to be in a place where the water is as salty as the ocean, like a mangrove forest, but it has potential.

Or they could become freshwater because as they move inland they'll get less used to salt.

Apart from breathing, flesh, support, respiration, circulation, radiation, biomass wasteage and the skin/hydroskeleton weakness etc etc.

Maybe if they'd been evolving for 300 MY though. The cephalopods back at that time would be easier to convert.

They wouldn't need to be full-time terrestrial.

Save the Pacific Tree Octopus!

Y'know, for some reason, I can imagine it being covered with a coating of stinging nettles. Y'know, for self-defense.

They're genetically engineered house pets to be used in decorative indoor trees.
