| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! Registration is free and instantaneous. Join our community today! |

I only log off when I close my browser. But if you haven't done anything for 15 minutes you count as inactivity. So if you keep it open for 1 month but don't do anything it'll still count as a month of inactivity. |

To keep people here you could put the shoutbox in the Portal. It'll be like the chatroom of the SE forums. |

It changes posts made by deleted members to a post made by "Guest" I believe. They are not deleted. I will probably only delete inactive accounts with few-to-no posts. |

We should all aspire to die surrounded by our dearest friends. Just like Julius Caesar. "The Lord Universe said: 'The same fate I have given to all things from stones to stars, that one day they shall become naught but memories aloft upon the winds of time. From dust all was born, and to dust all shall return.' He then looked upon His greatest creation, life, and pitied them, for unlike stars and stones they would soon learn of this fate and despair in the futility of their own existence. And so the Lord Universe decided to give life two gifts to save them from this despair. The first of these gifts was the soul, that life might more readily accept their fate, and the second was fear, that they might in time learn to avoid it altogether." - Excerpt from a Chanagwan creation myth, Legends and Folklore of the Planet Ghar, collected and published by Yieju Bai'an, explorer from the Celestial Commonwealth of Qonming Tree That Owns Itself

Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea. "It is the old wound my king. It has never healed." | |

I think that on may first he'll go through the member list and go to either post # or last activity, then delete anyone who hasn't posted by then or has less than, let's say, 10 posts, and hasn't been active in a month and delete them. Although I think that he needs to go to the Admin CP in another tab and delete them there. And I don't think that I can delete members either, I think it's another Admin privilege. --EDIT-- We are an affiliate of Outline! Edited by Pando, Apr 18 2010, 02:33 PM.

I'm starting with all the people who have never posted. At least some of these people joined and posted at least once, but these people who joined and never came again are just taking up space and skewing our statistics. I want the forum to look like it's running strong, not like it's dying (because it isn't). And if you look at the statistics it won't tell you how many posts members have made, just whether or not their active. So it looks like we had 275 members but lots just quit showing up. From there I'll move on to people with 10 posts or less and see when their last post was made (or at least whenever the last time the logged on was). I probably won't delete people that are inactive but have been active a lot in the past (like Saxophlutist, The Speculative Biologist, GBA, etc). And I may have to push it back from May to June, since I graduate in May (only five weeks left!) and may get pretty busy soon (our teachers just wait till the end of the year to dump projects on us, I hate it). We'll see though. EDIT: Affiliate of who? Edited by Ànraich, Apr 18 2010, 04:53 PM.

An affiliate of Outline. That's where Spring Rain came from. And it has a lot of people, so expect new people. I could delete the people at May, if you can't. And Will's account is impossible to delete anyway. He's the root member. --EDIT-- I found 1 full page and another 4 members who never posted. And then there are the validating members who never validated. Edited by Pando, Apr 18 2010, 05:17 PM.

Yeah, i don't get the validating mask. I mean, it seems all new members start off as validating. When they post, they become members. |

So does this mean Leptonosoma is also still exempt? I've contacted her several times over the past cuple years even after she left the forum |
