| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! Do you like our Portal page? Would you like to see more on the SE Portal? What kinds of things would you like? I could embed videos, a pop-out music player, and probably many other things as well, if you'd give me ideas as to what you would like. Seriously, I can find just about anything you want and embed it on that Portal, but if you guys don't like it I won't keep it our main page. |

We should all aspire to die surrounded by our dearest friends. Just like Julius Caesar. "The Lord Universe said: 'The same fate I have given to all things from stones to stars, that one day they shall become naught but memories aloft upon the winds of time. From dust all was born, and to dust all shall return.' He then looked upon His greatest creation, life, and pitied them, for unlike stars and stones they would soon learn of this fate and despair in the futility of their own existence. And so the Lord Universe decided to give life two gifts to save them from this despair. The first of these gifts was the soul, that life might more readily accept their fate, and the second was fear, that they might in time learn to avoid it altogether." - Excerpt from a Chanagwan creation myth, Legends and Folklore of the Planet Ghar, collected and published by Yieju Bai'an, explorer from the Celestial Commonwealth of Qonming Tree That Owns Itself

How do you embed things on the Portal? Wouldn't it be easier to just make a new page? |

You can add "Blocks" to the portal via the Admin CP. I've done it on other forums with the videos and music players, it's pretty simple. |

Fun facts reguarding evolution, zoological news, that stuff. Maybe a special mention of a project every now and then, or a user. |

Birthdays should now be displayed, but only for members who have posted in the last thirty days. Can't clutter our front pages with birthday mentions for people who have never even posted. As for the fun facts, I was thinking of finding a Wiki widget and linking it to the SE Wiki that Holbenilord has so kindly maintained for us. |

To be honest, I don't use the portal that much since I mostly navigate the site through the forum itself. If videos or other news things pop up that are relevant to speculative evolution there that would be awesome, but I'd shy away from the embedded music. |

There are 2 hidden webpages, one has The Future is Wild and the other Alien Planet. So as I said it could be put in a new webpage and leave the portal alone. |

How about putting a shoutbox in the Portal? It'll be like a chat room for the SE Forums. |

Sounds good... but i believe we had the chatbox idea before? The SE Wiki has been ignored for two and a hlaf days, so expect some massive article-writings! As for the portal, i'm okay with SE-related gizmetry. |

Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea. "It is the old wound my king. It has never healed." | |

Can't wait for the new articles. And because I removed the Future is Wild and Alien Planet from all but eVolution, maybe to have links to the pages in the portal? I'm ready to make them. |

It's in the affiliates. I think that there should be a link to the Future is Wild and Alien Planet pages of this forum. --EDIT-- It's done. Look to the right of the portal, at the bottom. Edited by Pando, Apr 30 2010, 02:10 AM.

Do you mean if there is other web pages than TFIW, Alien Planet, and Affiliates? There is 1 that was supposed to be for the Evolutionary Continuum community project, but it never got going. All it says on it is "Evolutionary Continuum". |
