| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! I think I agree with my dad in that the fact that an animal designed for a benthic lifestyle could not possibly come to the surface so easily without major disorientation if not serious medical issues. |

Well, I did stumble into quite a few buildings if I remember correctly. Though that was probably more likely because people were shooting at it. Oh, that reminds me, was anyone else surprised we were able to mobilize that much firepower so quickly? Maybe I just underestimate the response time of the military. I wonder we the militaries of the world have a plan for such absurd situations: "What to do if giant monster attacks: (1) A Major City, (2) A Rural Area, (3) Neighboring Nation; What to do if aliens invade: (1) For our natural resources, (2) to initiate a regime change, (3) to force the most intelligent of us to breed, (4) for sport, (5) because they're robots and someone left them on auto-kill..." |

The USA has a contingency plan for in case of a hostile extraterrestrial invasion; it is highly unreliable. Also, I believe the creature did suffer distortion; why else would it wander and attack a brightly lit, loud place like New York City that all other wild animals on Earth avoid? |

We should all aspire to die surrounded by our dearest friends. Just like Julius Caesar. "The Lord Universe said: 'The same fate I have given to all things from stones to stars, that one day they shall become naught but memories aloft upon the winds of time. From dust all was born, and to dust all shall return.' He then looked upon His greatest creation, life, and pitied them, for unlike stars and stones they would soon learn of this fate and despair in the futility of their own existence. And so the Lord Universe decided to give life two gifts to save them from this despair. The first of these gifts was the soul, that life might more readily accept their fate, and the second was fear, that they might in time learn to avoid it altogether." - Excerpt from a Chanagwan creation myth, Legends and Folklore of the Planet Ghar, collected and published by Yieju Bai'an, explorer from the Celestial Commonwealth of Qonming Tree That Owns Itself

It was disoriented only due to unfamiliar surroundings not the transition between benthic and surface pressures. My issue is that it didn't suffer from the change in pressure.

It's more convenient and exciting to not have a blob of exploded dead monster all over the place. |

I'm not saying I don't like the movie, because its one of my all time favorites. But even the greats have scientific fallacies.

Freak mutant creature created by nuclear radiation? It didn't 'evolve' at all. |
