| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. In this project there is an island somewhere on Earth an island the size of North America has fauna deposits at the end of each period (permian, triassic, jurassic, cretaceous, and paleogene) of animals from that entire period by some unknown power. By that same power, none of the creatures outside of the continent arrives to that continent, and none of the creatures from the continent arrives to the continent. Also the continent never experiences a mass extinction besides the fauna deposits. I want this project to be open, and to focus at the end of each period right before the fauna deposit occurs (so we look at the end-Permian deposits at the end-Triassic, all the way to modern time). At the end-Permian until the mid Triassic the environment is this: 1/3 swamp, 1/3 dry forest with seasonal rains, and 1/3 dry scrub prairie with seasonal rains, but less rain than the dry forest. At the end of the mid-Triassic it starts to shift toward the Triassic environments, which I haven't decided yet. List of creatures: Synapsids: Predators: Archaeothyris: 20 inches long. Haptodus: 5 feet long. Dimetrodon: 11 feet long. Anteosaurus: 16-19 feet long. Lycaenops: 3 feet long. Procynosuchus: 2 feet long, semi-aquatic. Galechirus: 1 foot long, insectivore. Herbivores: Edaphosaurus: 3-11 feet long. Casea: 4 feet long. Lystrosaurus: 3 feet long. Robertia: 8 inches long. Diictodon: 18 inches (1.5 feet) long. Dicynodon: 4 feet long. Reptiles: Coelurosauravus: 16 inches long. Scutosaurus: 8.2 feet long. Labidosaurus: 2.5 feet long. Insectivore or herbivore. Milleretta: 2 feet long. Amphibians: Eryops: 5-6 feet long. Diplocaulus: 3.3 feet long. Platyhystrix: 3.3 feet long. Who likes it? Edited by Pando, Mar 30 2010, 11:52 AM.

looks interesting, but can you know that more animals at start get it more difficult?because not everyvhere have nerves to create 1-3 descendants of every animal(some can go extinct)...how about 1 big carbivore 1 medium and 1 small, herbs too...reptiles and amphibians are OK..i go to create some animals ;)....please post with every animal picture and will be here at end of cretaceous some pterosaurs? this project reminds me Skull island from king kong Edited by Ook, Mar 30 2010, 10:02 AM.

Well, I think that this is a full ecosystem, but I think that I can take out the gorgonops... And there will be pterosaurs in the Triassic. |

Here is my first species, but I got some more ideas that I'm ready to draw. Rhinodicynodon/Dicynodon/Forest: A 7 foot long green ceratopsian-like dicynodon. Their tusks have curved into horns and have grown a small crest similar to ceratopsians will be have within the next eon (Jurassic).

![]() I.-Fork\Dicynodon\forests,sometimes plains herbivorous, about 1 m long II.Rhycodont\dicynodont\plains About size of rhino, that herbivorous diocynodont have got small hor ant head III.Scutosaur\scutosaurus\plains about size of rhino, that herbivorous lizard have got defensive armor...this species is most common big herb. IV.sailk\Platyhystrix\mainly at deserts Platyhystrix survive only at deserts, because at plains have got better competition. This amphibian are 1 m long.Female hold eggs to hatch at body i think that edaphosaurus, casea, dimetrodon will go extinct without any descendants...i think that herbs are completed, now we must create some carnivores and other lizards...(i draw top predator) Edited by Ook, Apr 1 2010, 01:12 PM.

I said that its mass extinction proof. But that doesn't mean that the Cretaceous fauna deposit will cause a mass extinction on Permian Island (by that time it'll be Cretaceous Island). |

yeah, but would be better,if you deposit smaller species(like trodoons) than bigger(like tyranosaurus) i createt top predator of triassic era, primitive saber toothed predator and something like wolf or fox...all therapsid, that i created have got fur,in jurassic, they would look much like mammals |
