Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! Registration is free and instantaneous.

How does one start a subforum here?

I know Affex is still just a one-man itty-bitty project, but I do hope for it to lead into something better.

What is Affex?
My latest pet project. It's like Snaiad in concept (an alien world building project) based around creatures evolved from colonial animals.

Hmmm... Perhaps this is too early for me to be making such a request. It's still just a fetus as far as project development goes (not to mention the fact that I probably won't be able to, say, get any of this publish or copy written ).

Yeah, I'm definitely getting a head of my self.

If you're curious, here's what I have: http://zippo4k.deviantart.com/gallery/#The-Rametosaur-Project

lol
Because I'm in college, would need to dedicate far more time and money into writing something to tie it all together (I have no idea how I would do that) and the vast majority of the public would have no interest in a bunch of silly line drawings with no color what so ever.

Besides, I'm just 21 and this is just a small personal project that will likely never get completed. XD

Positive attitude man, positive attitude. :)
A hard mathematical figure provides a sort of enlightenment to one's understanding of an idea that is never matched by mere guesswork.

Nah, I just don't want to get a head of myself. XD
Start slow and see where this project leads me. Then when I have a coherent project, I can decide where to go with is.

From wikipedia on copyright:

Quote:

In all countries that are members of the Berne Convention copyright is automatic, and need not be obtained through official registration with any government office. Once an idea has been reduced to tangible form, for example by securing it in a fixed medium (such as a drawing, sheet music, photograph, a videotape, or a computer file), the copyright holder is entitled to enforce his or her exclusive rights.

Is your country a member of the Berne Convention?

I totally get where you're coming from, though. I haven't done any formal copyrighting of my own work, but plan to at some point if things become potentially lucrative.

I think if you give this project time it will lead into a good and well known project. Like someone said keep a positive attitude and take it slow and see what happens

Well, anyways. I have a basic outline for the direction I want to take the plants.
Now I'm working on a rough outline for what the surface of the planet will look like.

Can't think of any constructive comments off the top of my head, so I'll just say EEEEE SO COOL!!1!
My speculative dinosaur project. With lots of fluff, parental care and mammalian-level intelligence, and the odd sophont.
