| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! I saw this at DeviantArt and I wonder whether it would have been possible. http://lexlothor.deviantart.com/art/AE-Death-From-Above-90139944 Edited by Rick Raptor, Mar 26 2010, 10:25 AM.

Sounds awesome. Though you might want to reshape the title of this topic, otherwise people might just think its about typical six legged verties. |

I changed the title and I think now it´s clear. So is the idea of Acanthodians becoming sectapods plausible? It would be really cool, indeed, especially since six legs offer more possiblities than four legs. There could be giant animals (bigger than the biggest sauropods) supporting their weight with all six legs, centaur-like animals walking on four legs and using the remaining two legs as manipulators and maybe even bipedally-walking animals with four wings (comparable to the Great Leonopteryx from Avatar). |

But first the cartilage would have to be hardened into bone-strength. |
