| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! Navisauria (swimming reptiles) After extinction event were all marine mammals extinct and many animals started their evolutionary race.Navisaurs are Anguimorphs and their possibly ancestora is propably some kind of monitor lizard, who survived C-T extinction.Their first paths leads to water, where first Navisaurs splited from more primitive, semi aquatic, crocodile like forms, which now survives in few species in Australia and South-East Asia. Navisaurs have long, streamlined body, with forelimbs transformed into flippers.Hind limbs are in more advandec species completely deevolved, but in few surviving basal species are present in form of small flippers, which propably help them to move on land or at mating.Heads resemble heads of monitor lizards and their tails are broad, and supplied the locomotive power, advanced species convergents with extinct ichiosaurs. Almost all species give birth to live young, but few surviving Hawai and Galapagos species return to shore to lay eggs, like today sea turtles. Their diet consist mainly on fish, cephalopods and other marine tetrapods. There is also specialized mollucs eaters.Biggest Navisaurs eats mainly their smaller counsins and giant fishes. Interesting feature of Navisaurs is their inteligence, which is propably most advanced in reptile kingdom.Smaller species hunt cooperatively and its observed that Adult teach young what they can eat etc.Basal Oceanian species lives in big noisy colonies. Navisaurs inhabits mainly Indian ocean and warm parts of Pacific ocean. Two species were alco discovered in Atlantic ocean, near coasts of South America. Edited by Ook, Jul 15 2010, 06:13 AM.

Weren't Thalattosaurs marine reptiles that lived in the Triassic. Other than that I like these animals . A water or mangrove monitor would be a good ancestor for these.

What family i should do next? Bouncers-small kangaroo like herbivores, analogues to hares and smaller ungulates,Honey rats-tiny nectarivores or now unnamed relics of first big rodent radiation, that survives in great numbers in africa, where they fill niches of big browsers and grazers, bear sized herbivorous descendants of hedgehogs that live in few species in temperate and boreal forests of europe, asia and america? also few type species of navisaur with picture coming soon
