Could they get lose and breed in the wild? What kinds of effects would the whole thing have.

What you need is a black hole, or pulsar. Send a spaceship into an orbital route that won't include destruction, but close enough that time seems to be going super-slow within the craft. Brewak orbit... and voila! You've moved far forward in time.
	Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea. "It is the old wound my king. It has never healed."
