Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

Has anyone seen this movie? I know it's not the best but I have been ill and couldn't get out of the home so I ended up waching it on netflix. Anyway, what do you think that little green creature, the labou itself is? Some sort of reptile clearly but what sort?

Sorry for posting this dumb topic but I was bored and had nothing better to do.

Dumb topics seem prevalent these days. :whatever:

Quasi-reptile, perhaps?

I doubt it is reptilian, unless those aren't ears, and are instead fins - possibility?

Are you plausible?

Looks like a tiny dragon, and clearly reptilian. Since I'm unaware of any reptiles with ears I highly doubt those are ears. Display frills, most likely.

His skull formation is definitely not lizard-reptilian, his eyesockets point forward. I assume he's an anapsid because of that, and his nostrils. The frills seem full of blood vessels- for display i assume.

If the frills are for display then what's the humming for?

For communication, I'd wager.

Perhaps it is good for ground vibration, and they hear it through their feet?
