| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. The aim of this project is to create the GMed lifeforms living on Genesis, along with their habitats and ecosystems. I shall provide more information on the sentient races, along with their home worlds, shortly. |

So, humans (and other races) are the Precursors here? Interesting. This is a pretty original sounding project. I can't wait to see how this goes. I just hope we don't touch back on this history too much (remembering what race is what would be difficult). |

Thanks, although credit goes to Canis Lupis, who came up with the initial idea of a planet inhabited with GMed lifeforms. |

Have you been reading about the Galctic War? How did you get into my house? Spoiler: click to toggle I like your ideas. Names are creative. But only seven sentient races? Hmmm. Can you divulge the nature of the Big Body (Corpus Magnus)? What is the nature of this project? |

Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea. "It is the old wound my king. It has never healed." | |

Well, humanity had only discovered seven other sentient races by the year 2234. More were discovered in the following years. As to the Corp Magnus, there is little data on them. Most information was destroyed during the war, although they were thought to have come from the Perseus Arm. They were described as having a weapon, "unlike any, and with more destructive power, than any weapon known before". And the nature of this project, is, to design the GMed species and ecosystems on Genesis. The genetic modification isn't an excuse to give the creatures superpowers, or anything like that. Really, it was only used to make sure that the species from the different planets were able to integrate and interact with one another. |

so is there any basic info on the original ''native'' life of Genesis? what critters and plants the various races put down on the planet? |

Interesting concept, but I do have a question. Were these genetically modified animals made from a combination of all the flora and fauna of all of their planets? Like a giraffe being fused with an animal from Nathanuk? |

Yes! Everyone's free to post their own designs for the lifeforms.
No. Earth animals GMed using genes from other Earth animals, Sk' animals crossed with other Sk' animals, etc. There are a few execptions, especially with the plants (or fungi, in the case of Nathanuk), but overall the above rule holds true.
There will be some shortly, possibly tommorrow. |

I don't suppose we can include extinct animal DNA in these creatures, would we? |

@Kingpin - no, I'm afraid not. Assuming, of course, that Jurassic Park doesn't actually happen. The Imgars (Homo avas ora) These creatures resemble, to some extent, Terran wading birds. Standing roughly one and a half metres at the shoulder, their heads bob another metre above that, on the end of long necks. Their long legs, splayed toes, webbed feet and "nostrils on stalks" all help them in a semi-aquatic lifestyle, as many of them still live in small fishing villages. Their cities are scarce, but large, and hold the majority of the technology. The reason for this divide is unclear - it may possibly be lifestyle choice, or some other reason from the planets' past. City or village, life for the Imgars revolves around the ocean, of which there is a lot on Ava. Local marine life is the main staple for this species. Some of their more unique features include three stalk eyes, a bifurcated top lip, a single arm with two thumbs, and a short tail covered in bioluminescent spots, used in mating rituals. Overall relations with other space faring races are good, although they are very reluctant to let outsiders onto their homeworld. Their role on Genesis is to populate the coastlines and (somewhat shallow) oceans with some of their native flora and fauna. NOTE - Unable to include image (unfortunately, it is apparently too large to be included in this post.) |

Go to paint and shrink it. I do that with Djerean scans. If they are homo, are they part human? |
