Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! Registration is free and instantaneous.

This is quite a strange project. I don't know if this is future evolution or alternative evolution, but I think it's alter. evo. because some species look similar to Dicynodonts and others like Gorgonopsids, so here it is:

The only problem I have with the Gigatus is its speed. If it isn't an ambush predator it would die of starvation as it's pretty visible.

Also, how much forest is in Solturna? If there is a lot the red tailed mardik shouldn't be the biggest tree dweller.

When are you putting up the next species? Its been 2 months and I love your creatures.

The Mountain Uru size chart is missing. I would really like to know how big it is as the only size it says is that it's "large".

How did you get to draw so well?
The gigatus stings victims with its long tentacles - I'm changing it so don't worry about it. lol

I'll get back to you on the forest ratio but its not enormous.

The nest species will be put up when I get the actual website up.

Thats odd. I'll double check that and see what I can do. Its about the size of a small cow.

I've been drawing since I was around 7. I'm 23 now, so practice?

whew! Thanks for all the questions! sorry it took me a bit! :D

Hahaha I can't draw Mardik's accurately at all, but here's a mardik cub, inspired by watching the boyfriend's dogs roll about and my own daughter.

Thank you for checking on the mountain uru.

The concept for the next species looks promising. Too bad you keep hitting snags for the new website. How many new species will be up with the website?

I'm fine with the gigantus killing its prey with tentacles. But unless it's an ambush predator, it would never be able to catch prey with it's speed.

It's obviously an ambush predator. And presumably has a very slow metabolism so that it doesn't need to eat often.
My speculative dinosaur project. With lots of fluff, parental care and mammalian-level intelligence, and the odd sophont.

anywhere from 2-4 new animals species. There will most likely be additions to flora as well.

Who can guess what it is (I think it's pretty easy to guess though)?
