| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! This is quite a strange project. I don't know if this is future evolution or alternative evolution, but I think it's alter. evo. because some species look similar to Dicynodonts and others like Gorgonopsids, so here it is: http://www.themoraeriver.com/ |

Thanks Margaret Pye for all the insight. I'm currently editing a few of the species and dropping a couple as well for the new website - which is totally over-due ![]() Anyway I appreciate your input!

agatharights fangirls I actually drew some Mardik's a while ago, when I was bored. I like the design :3 I'm sure I'll scan them in eventually. |

I'll be dropping the Gigatus and the Sabulo most likely. The Greater Fugamus, and the Red Tailed Mardik are being edited. Everyone else is staying pretty much the same.

Aww. I can't convince you to keep the Gigantus? Hey, if you don't want it any more, may I have it? |

Haha. Perhaps. I might return to the original designs I had for it which were much more jellyfish-like. It was substantially smaller and would hang from trees. |

La de da scanner is slow. Anyways, I like thinking about mardik's in motion largely because their body structure reminds me both of fishers that we see here, and my boyfriend's dog, Fred the Basset Hound. Although less so with Fred, because Fred is old and stupid. Seriously, that dog once barked it's throat so raw it couldn't make any more noise- by barking at a scarecrow for two straight hours, trying to scare it out of the yard. ![]() BEHOLD THE ONCE NOBLE WOLF. |

I can understnad the Gigantus, due to the problems with it supporting a body that size, but the Sabulo was lovely! Like the pike-from-hell, but still awesome!

why do you have to drop anything? The gigantus actually was my favorite of them all. Very unique. And as you said, it's not a real arthropod, just happens to resemble one. As for the sabulo, you don't have to drop it either, but I would recommend changing the superficial class of sarcopterygii to amphibia. To me it looks like an amphibian, not a fish. ---EDIT--- I'm going to save in a word document all your animals, in case you delete any animal. Edited by Pando, Mar 9 2010, 10:59 AM.

I guess I say dropped in the sense that it will be edited entirely. It may not be recognizable when I'm done with it. I might still keep the Sabulo and Gigatus...who knows. Only if I can get them to work out better...

The only problem I have with the Gigatus is its speed. If it isn't an ambush predator it would die of starvation as it's pretty visible. Also, how much forest is in Solturna? If there is a lot the red tailed mardik shouldn't be the biggest tree dweller. When are you putting up the next species? Its been 2 months and I love your creatures. The Mountain Uru size chart is missing. I would really like to know how big it is as the only size it says is that it's "large". How did you get to draw so well? |

Hahaha I can't draw Mardik's accurately at all, but here's a mardik cub, inspired by watching the boyfriend's dogs roll about and my own daughter.
