| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2009/12/091217-sucker-footed-bat-suction-madagascar.html What interests me the most is that if sweat can be used as a suction method, then practically all mammal species could evolve wall-crawling locomotion in the future. (This is just a theory) Edited by TheCoon, Dec 22 2009, 08:14 PM.

Are you plausible?

Provided they're small enough, I agree with you. I'm not sure if this could work at very large scales. For one thing, that would take a lot of suction force to hold up something as big as a medium-sized dog, and where could it find a large surface smooth enough for suction to even be of value. Maybe for purposes of traction. Hmm... |

Probably some future city rats might develop the same technique for wall-crawling in the buildings? |
