Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

I'm making a fictional island with animals from mid-late cretaceous period north america that survived in there as the island moved to the ecuator in the middle of the pacific ocean.

Here's a map:

My main problem right now is: Is it plausible for pterosaurs to survive in this island?

That is a good question about the size of the Island and the species.

I actually doubt that most ornithopods survive in the island. I read that the KT extinction on land was caused by the apearance of grass during the Late Cretaceous. Grass actually appeared just before the KT extinction, so this might be a cause of their dissapearance, since herviborous dinos couldn't digest grass. What do you think?

I don't think grass was really common then on the level of today, and they have found grass in dinosaur Coprolite so they can digest grass.

I have developed a concept of skin pouchs arround the lower jaw. Normally they look like mammal cheeks, but when they're inflated they look like this animal's throat:

I think that Some large carnivorous Birds might be able to take some niches since they would be growing while the Dinosaurs are shrinking(which might throw off their abillities?).

Also Giant herbivore Birds that can deffend themselves would be cool.

There was Therizinosaurs in North America during that time, so they might inhabit the island, adopt-bird-like appearances, and occupy large hervibore niches.
Large carnivorous birds might inhabit the highlands, where few dinosaurs live.

Sounds good.

An adaptation that I thought up for Therazinosaurs once was for their claws to fuse iinto different shapes like a sword or a shovel for different tasks.

Not sure if that is helpful but thought I would say.

Maybe some fused claws that are similar to an axe's head so that it can cut it's way through the jungle.
