| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! Hi, everyone. I've been plagued by a few ideas during the last weeks, so, now i want to ask something that i've found interesting. What if all reptiles were wiped out along with the dinosaurs? I mean, no snakes, turtles, lizards or crocodiles. How would mammals, birds and other lifeforms evolve and what would change? I need ideas, because i'm thinking about turning this into a project. |

This will be an interesting world. I see most Reptile niches going to Mammals with birds taking Only a few mostly predatory ones. Can any body say Kamodo Cockatrice? |

Depends. Most likely this would mean a larger diversity of mustelids and animals like caecillians |

New Mustulids, Rodents and Legomorphs are the diversity for the placentals. Most small Marsupials like Possums/Opossums and the carnivorous ones. All Monotremes. The Birds get more small land Birds like Chickens. And we might see larger Arthropods taking small lizard niches and maybe larger bug populations to feed their larger Bird predators. And Amphibians will have Salamanders, Those serpent ones and Frogs diversify. |
