Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

"Those worlds in space are as countless as all the grains of sand on all the beaches of the earth. Each of those worlds is as real as ours and every one of them is a succession of incidents, events, occurrences which influence its future. Countless worlds, numberless moments, an immensity of space and time."
-Carl Sagan

I started this project almost two years ago. It's a full guide to planets that man will probably explore in the near future (most likely 2,000 years into the future). The guide I'm writing contains data of the planet in general and of the habitat(s) that humankid explored during the first landing to the celestial body. It contains real planets and moons such as Europa and Gliese 581 d, as well as fictional planets like Erusea and Bhey.
It also contains examples of species that inhabit the planet/moon, with specific data such as behaviour, anatomy, etc.

I currently only have Europa and Gliese as the real planets with life in them, while I created other 5: Bhey, Eruesea, Ujomego, Tartharus and Igoneo. I'll post info about the planets as the topic goes on.

In the end, the best advice I could give you would be to do your project in a way that feels natural to you, rather than trying to imitate some geek with a laptop in Colorado.

Yep, there's some intelligent life, but they are quite "primitive", as they still use stone and "pseudobone" tools, and they concidered the first humans that arrived to their planet as gods from the stars.

Anyway, the creatures that inhabit the planets are really alien, not just an Earth life modification. Fore example, Uromejo is a planet in which sea life is almost extinct, and in land semi-deserts predominate the landscape. The "arthropods" of this planet are really strange. they represent the 98% of the animal species in the planet and they feed on sound.
This lifeforms, instead of seeking for proteins, or sugars, or any other biomolecule, they use a special membrane that catches sound. The energy of the sound powers up the creature like a machine. This power up will last more depending on how much sound they catched.
In fact, when the power of the animal is almost non-existant, the creatures use their last strengths to dig a small hole in the land, and bring up a tentacle-like organ with a whistle-like instrument at the end, that produces more sound with the air passing through the instrument so that the creature can catch more sound and continue with it's functions.

Feed on sound? That doesn't sound all that plausible to me.

Please explain.

Sounds like a silicon-based critter to me.

Silicon and carbon. They don't seek for biomolecules like sugars or proteins, but instead they produce and then catch sound. The sound is trapped by membranes. The membranes bounce the sound to other membranes similar to a reptile's ears. They trap the sound and that powers up the animal like if the animal was a machine of some sort.
But there's also predators in the planet too :)

That isn't plausible. It needs to acquire proteins and other biomolecules in order to create new cells and repair the old ones. You can't just have something that has invincible cells, it's not possible. Like all other matter life is worn down by the elements, but it has the ability to acquire more matter and repair itself and grow. Not only that, but if it really did somehow "feed" on sound it would need to constantly be exposed to high levels of loud sounds, otherwise it would only be able to live for a few seconds.
We should all aspire to die surrounded by our dearest friends. Just like Julius Caesar.

"The Lord Universe said: 'The same fate I have given to all things from stones to stars, that one day they shall become naught but memories aloft upon the winds of time. From dust all was born, and to dust all shall return.' He then looked upon His greatest creation, life, and pitied them, for unlike stars and stones they would soon learn of this fate and despair in the futility of their own existence. And so the Lord Universe decided to give life two gifts to save them from this despair. The first of these gifts was the soul, that life might more readily accept their fate, and the second was fear, that they might in time learn to avoid it altogether." - Excerpt from a Chanagwan creation myth, Legends and Folklore of the Planet Ghar, collected and published by Yieju Bai'an, explorer from the Celestial Commonwealth of Qonming

Thanks for the advice Parasky. I'll have to do it all over again, but oh well...

I didn't mean to burst your bubble or anything, I'm just a scientific kind of person and I'm especially critical about biology (since it's the science I'm best at and enjoy the most). I like the idea, don't get me wrong, it's just more akin to fantasy than speculative biology. Perhaps it could still work out in some other way? Maybe it has a resonating chamber and amplifies sound like a living sonic cannon? That could be useful for both predator and prey, depending on how it's used.

Like Parasky said, that sound-eating mouth doesn't work for sound eating, but it would make for a very effective ear.

I'm also really critic about biologic aspects. That's the science I also enjoy the most. It's just that I "soared to high and my wings got burned". I can still use the idea for sound as a weapon for predators or even for the prey to defend itself.
