Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

Dinosaurs eat man, woman inherits the Earth.

It's a challenge, I'll give it that.

Hmmmm ... what about this?

Polypods - descended from a bilaterian resembling a shelled slug, perhaps a distant relative of Kimberella, the polypods are small (8 mm - 12 cm), sluglike organisms with small dorsal 'shells' or armored plates spaced along the midline of the body. Polypods have eighteen leglike projections used for locomotion. They have no internal hard structure, and possess a very simple gut and only one nerve cord with thin branches entering each 'leg'. Most polypods are omnivores and detritivores.

Vultur-10: I quite like that idea actually.

I have been struggling to come up with ideas but I have been doing random doodles to try to get inspiration (been looking at available fossil photos too, what the sketches are based upon). I could post them, they may not be acceptable ideas on their own but they may spur some more ideas, not just for myself but for others too?

Though one of the worm-like sketches looks very phallic now I think of it. :") But nature has produced stranger shapes and forms. Anyway, I'll scan them in the morning.

Feel free to post them KayKay. We need some ideas.

Yeah, I quite like the idea as well. Sort of a leg-like adaptation of the pre-molluscan foot.

These might inspire some more ideas? I'll try to produce a few more. I understand these might be no good the way they are though, but if you want to use them I wouldn't mind.

Those fit pretty well in the Cambrian of our Earth but I am not sure about them fitting into the topics groups.

Well, those weren't going to be the only groups were they? Aren't we trying to think up more?

I honestly have no idea you would need to ask Canis Lupus.

I don't think we've settled on groups yet. Remember, this is a whole forum topic.

So right now, all we are trying to do is formulate some phylum ideas. Then we will vote on which ones we want to keep.

I like them KayKay! I really like them! They seem like as-of-yet not-canon phylum arthrochaeta.

Go ahead and list all your ideas for life. As far as I know we are looking for every thing.

Plants did not yet colonize the land during the Cambrian. There may have been some algae "scum" on land but not actually living plants.

It would be quite interesting to see if another photosynthesiser organism became dominant on land. They existed hundreds of millions of years before plant. But it may be to difficult as they were just microbes that sparsely inherited the Earth.

I wish I could give the public a true picture of the queen as she appeared at her best, but this would be impossible, even had she permitted a photograph to be taken, for her charming play of expression while in conversation, the character and intellect which were then revealed, were only half seen when the face was in repose. -Lilias Underwood when speaking of Empress Myeongseong

"I was born in the dark. I went out into the light, and your Majesty, it is my displeasure to inform you that I have returned to the dark. I envision a Seoul of towering buildings filled with Western establishments that will place herself back above the Japanese barbarians. Great things lie ahead for the Kingdom, great things. We must take action, your Majesty, without hesitation, to further modernize this still ancient kingdom."-Min Young-ik to Empress Myeongseong

Plants stuck in the water and out competed by Fungus and a new group?

That sounds awsome!

Maybe we could have amphibious lichen being the closest thing plant have to land forms?

That makes me think that the amphibian lichens Fungal part might have a sister group that are symbiotes with the new group?
