| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! Yep. Though we better get back on topic. Don't want to get him angry again.

You know, I honestly don't remember. Either that, or I'm not telling you. ![]() Anyway, poll will be open until Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. (it is currently 7:40 p.m. on Monday). |

I actually left my votes in notes on my profile. Cnidaria Lodihelminthes Arthrochaeta Echinodermata Cephalostia Polypods Bowls of Soup Neospoggia Trilobita No hard feelings for those who I didn't vote for? By the way, how will the accepted species be decided? Will it just be x number of species with the most votes? What happens if there's ties? Edited by KayKay, Dec 15 2009, 02:07 AM.

Oh okay thanks for clarification. Also The voting mechanics would be nice to know in this thread? And KayKay I think I voted for the same ones as you except when it comes to the Cephelostia and polypods. |

The plant phyla with the highest votes will be selected (the plant phyla are Neocharophyta and Gelascaphia). Then, the eight animal phyla with the highest votes will be selected (the animal phyla are everything else). Right now, Glucascaphia looks like our plant phylum. Our animal phyla look like they are going to be: Cnidaria, Lodihelminthes, Arthrochaeta, Cephalostia, Neospogia, Sigmatatora, and Trilobita. Our last phyla is a tie between Porifera, Echinodermata, Polypoda, Lucivermia, and Mucarcera. But polls are still up until tomorrow at 5:00 p.m. (again, 3:29 p.m. here). If we still have that tie, I'll have a tie-breaker poll that will last until the following day until 5:00 p.m. Don't let these poll results persuade you either way. Just vote for which phyla you'd like to see. |

Anyway, poll now closed. I was too tired to post that last night. Finals. Urgh. Anyway, looks like results are the same as in my previous post. That means we will have a tiebreaker poll, whose deadline will be tomorrow at 5:00 p.m. (right now, it is 3:27 p.m.). Members of the poll are: Echinodermata, Polypoda, Lucivermia, and Mucarcera. Now, I realize Porifera is also tied with the above four phyla. But, since Neospoggia (in the same niche as Porifera) is one of the winning phyla, Porifera gets the biological boot. So, the phylum (Echinodermata, Polypoda, Lucivermia, or Mucarcera) that recieves the most posts wins. |
