Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

This is a topic on all the worlds of Nintendo, Konami, and Sega. We will look at the biology, evolutionary history, and then post drawings of possible real-life versions of these characters. This is in the Habitable Zone, because alot of these characters are aliens.

Well I can't think of another reason they'd be multicolored. It's not exactly good camoflage.

Very true.

Maybe they evolved from a poisonous ancestor that diversified By adapting new abillities since their predators Became almost immune to their poison?

What would their predator be Bowser?

I think their predators are large water animals. It would explain the fact that you can't ride Yoshi in deep water on Super Mario Sunshine.

Okay and what water creatures do we know from Mario?

Also They would need a land predator or overpopulate and become extinct.

Or the poison could be secreted through the skin. Water would wash it away, making Yoshi reluctant to go near water.

I think I will go with Kingpin's explanation. So what land predator can we use?

That could work I guess........?

That may be why the Pirahna Plant is those colors(they are poisonous from eating Yoshi's).

I doubt that Yoshisaurs are poisonous. Some kinds may have Komodo Dragon thing going on though.

Can we make up our minds and keep it plausible please?

Also If it was a Komodo Dragon type thing they would be mostly Carnivores And they most likely would not have colorful markings being the top predators.

Komodo dragons arn't pink or orange. 'The Komodo dragon thing' is exclusively used for hunting. If anything, Komodo Dragons are dully colored for camoflage. The only creatures I can think of that are bright vibrant colors are either very poisonous, trying to look poisonous, or aquatic life. If we accept that Yoshi's have some sort of cage/egg trapping device going on, then I doubt they would have any use for a bite that can kill from poisons or bacteria.

EDIT: Ah, ATEK beat me to it.

Sorry for beating you to it.

But thanks for agreeing and expanding my point.

Edit:

Also about Yoshi's what if the carnivorous Yoshi's feed on the Herbivorous Yoshi's, The Omnivore Yoshis feed on unrelated Life forms, Those carnivourous Plants feed on the omnivore Yoshi's and the Herbivores Yoshi's Feed on the Carnivorous plants?

I kinda like this since they live on their own Island and this lay out provides a basic lay out of the food chain and allows us to organise adaptations to certain groups.

What do you think About this food chain?

Your food chain shall be the official food chain. Posted Image The diagram was supposed to say "Made from certain fruits." I think the Komodo Dragon-like Yoshi would be the Black Yoshi. http://www.mariowiki.com/Black_Yoshi

Hmm. Black and white Yoshi's sound more like specialized predators. Black might be the only one with a 'bacteria bite killing method', simply because of its color. Black is easier to overlook than white.

And on the foodchain. I think you're missing some of the key animals from the games. Goombas seem like they would be near the bottem of the foodchain to me, and an excellent source of food for the carnivorous Yoshi's.
