Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

This is a topic on all the worlds of Nintendo, Konami, and Sega. We will look at the biology, evolutionary history, and then post drawings of possible real-life versions of these characters. This is in the Habitable Zone, because alot of these characters are aliens.

Well then that won't work because those things are demesticated forms of foreign Plants. The only ones they might have native populations of on the Island are Coconuts and Bananas which would not even be their demestic forms and have nothing to turn them Pink Making them eat those for their coloration pointless.

What if on Yoshi's Isle those fruits evolved the trait turn things that eat them pink? And only the Pink Yoshi can stomach the chemical.

Is that not what I was basicly saying with the Pirahna Plants? also The fruit you mentioned in their most common breeds don't have a way to evolve this chemical in a few hundred years(thousands at most). And turning an animal pink is not a deffense that needs a special digestive system.

I did remember?

They are pink because they Eat the fruit of different Pirahna Plant species which look simular to those Plants you want. These fruit are the same red and white dotted collor as the main Plant. The Yoshi's use the red pigment inorder to create their pink pigment just like with Flamingoes.

I've got it! What if the Pirrahna Plant eats the same shrimp as flamingos and the chemical shows up in the fruit!

1st: How did those Shrimp get to the island?

2nd: And not every thing needs a previous source.

3rd: The Plant has no reason to when it eats Yochi's.

4th: Those tiny Shrimp are not big enough to give that shade of red let alone give a nutritional value.

5th: Those Plants have no adaptations for filter feeding.

6th: Those plants need a better reason for being red than giving a Yoshi pink colors. I think they use a red Photosynthetic pigment to warn things it can bite back and to Photosynthesize.

7th: If 6 is true then the Yoshi's need a slightly different way to make themselves pink. This makes the shrimp thing even less needed.

Yes, you don't have to rub it in. Screw herbivorous Pink Yoshi! Let us just say that it eats the brine shrimp that flamingos eat.

I wasn't trying to rub it in.

Also why are we trashing herbivore pink Yoshi's? It worked fine.

And again how did that get to the Island long enough ago that they have a species adapted to eat only them?

Another thing is that Yoshi's have no body features to make it a descent filter feeder if one at all. Mostly thanks to their head.

The island was attacthed to Africa. So the shrimp lived there from the start. Who said that when we drew these things that they would keep the same head shape?

You guys notice we're the only ones posting in this topic?

To be honest, pink Yoshi's don't really need an explination as to why they're pink. Bright colors could easily be chalked up to it being poisonous. But even if you wanted to give a reason why it was pink, it doesn't have to be the exact same method used by flamingos, who just so happen to eat the exact same shrimp as them. I'm not saying it's a bad idea, just uninspired. Also, keeping the creature the same as how it looks, or close, is sort of important to the concept.
