Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

This is a topic on all the worlds of Nintendo, Konami, and Sega. We will look at the biology, evolutionary history, and then post drawings of possible real-life versions of these characters. This is in the Habitable Zone, because alot of these characters are aliens.

You can't unless you're a MOD. You have to start it again.
Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea.

No, just PM a mod and have them move it for you.

Is this...Not the Habitable Zone? No, no, it most defiantly is. Did someone move this topic? Bah, doesn't matter really...

Anyways, I'd say that the likelihood of something like Kirby out there is very, very tiny. He's nearly spherical, has stubby arms and legs, and must have some kind of combination of lung and stomach in order to produce so much suction...
We should all aspire to die surrounded by our dearest friends. Just like Julius Caesar.

"The Lord Universe said: 'The same fate I have given to all things from stones to stars, that one day they shall become naught but memories aloft upon the winds of time. From dust all was born, and to dust all shall return.' He then looked upon His greatest creation, life, and pitied them, for unlike stars and stones they would soon learn of this fate and despair in the futility of their own existence. And so the Lord Universe decided to give life two gifts to save them from this despair. The first of these gifts was the soul, that life might more readily accept their fate, and the second was fear, that they might in time learn to avoid it altogether." - Excerpt from a Chanagwan creation myth, Legends and Folklore of the Planet Ghar, collected and published by Yieju Bai'an, explorer from the Celestial Commonwealth of Qonming

Well, unless he just rolled around, his body structure isn't the most beneficial.

And I don't think his respiratory system would be that advanced. "Kirby" could potentially have a suckerfish-like mouth, attaching to prey or a hard surface. But exhaling air at extremely high speeds doesn't seem likely.

Hmm. Spherical. . .check. Inflates itself. . .check. Is kind of cute. . .check. I'd actually say we've got a pretty close earth analogue to this sort of creature in. . .the pufferfish.

In the end, the best advice I could give you would be to do your project in a way that feels natural to you, rather than trying to imitate some geek with a laptop in Colorado.

Kirby and Meta Knight being the same species means that they're both 8 inches tall. How could we explain the colour difference? And what about King Dedede? I find it unlikely that penguins got to an alien planet before us.

Are you plausible?

Color variation is not that difficult, evolutionarily speaking. Black, yellow, chocolate labradors, for example...

The overall description of Kirby certainly does suggest an aquatic origin, though a spherical body would probably be even more unwieldy in water than in air. Why would something as active as a "kirby" develop such stubby limbs? I would suspect some sort of forced evolutionary pressure, whether through programmed breeding or direct genetic manipulation, but where does the little pink puffball get the mechanical force to run and leap? Size is a good factor in this aspect, because the smaller it is the easiest it is to move around, but it still seems unresolved in my mind.

Sigh. . .I think if we make a Pop Culture Spec subforum, we're going to need some limits on what can and can't be discussed. The problem with trying to rationalize fiction is that you pretty much always end up playing the MST3K Mantra card at some point, which negates all your science. This is why I'm surprised the Pokemon thread has even lasted so long. I think, other than that, Pop Culture Spec should be limited to fiction that already has some speculative science within itself--like Star Trek, Primeval and Kenneth Oppel's Airborn novels.

Maybe his his legs could be frog-like in a realistic environment.
