| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! Parasky once wrote a story about the moon being terraformed into a vast grassland with the craters now being huge lakes. Its plausible now. Time to speculate! And Dodo, you should know by now we shouldn't use the word "creationist", in order to keep creationism out of the advertisement. Use terms like "idiot" and "imbecile" |

But we've already said IT many times. |

Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea. "It is the old wound my king. It has never healed." | |

Good old Terra Luna. I also have recently thought of a story in which Saturn, being less dense than water, is terraformed and inhabited by trillions of people. They simply have an enormous ocean of water floating on top of Saturn's gaseous atmosphere, which they also harvest for energy. But I digress, that's not the topic of this thread. This is still an exciting discovery, as we're one step closer to colonizing the moon and moving on to Mars, Venus, and the Jovian system. |

We should all aspire to die surrounded by our dearest friends. Just like Julius Caesar. "The Lord Universe said: 'The same fate I have given to all things from stones to stars, that one day they shall become naught but memories aloft upon the winds of time. From dust all was born, and to dust all shall return.' He then looked upon His greatest creation, life, and pitied them, for unlike stars and stones they would soon learn of this fate and despair in the futility of their own existence. And so the Lord Universe decided to give life two gifts to save them from this despair. The first of these gifts was the soul, that life might more readily accept their fate, and the second was fear, that they might in time learn to avoid it altogether." - Excerpt from a Chanagwan creation myth, Legends and Folklore of the Planet Ghar, collected and published by Yieju Bai'an, explorer from the Celestial Commonwealth of Qonming Tree That Owns Itself

How did you keep the atmosphere in? Or did you just keep making more. One of my favourite non-Honorverse SF novels Sunstorm by Baxter and Clarke has ice on the moon. Not much though, but even a little bit would be enougth to make human conquest much easier. And did your story involve talk sexy women who have adapted to live up there? Or are you above writing stories as excuses for sex scenes. Also, Colinzation is going with Definatly on the "stupidly hard to spell list" |

The atmosphere on the moon was held in place by a giant ring built around the moon. The ring, along with two giant towers at either pole, generated a magnetic field. The field not only kept the suns deadly radiation from melting the people on the surface but also kept the charged atmosphere trapped in a protective magnetic bubble it couldn't escape from. The moon was even set on a rotation and was put back in a stable orbit around the Earth and everything. |

The magnets would have to be so strong they'd pull ferrous asteroids towards them. |

I have no idea, it just sounded good. I tried not to go into too much detail, so that way it could just be one of those things you think might be possible but you don't have enough information to definitely tell if it is or not. |

Sound interesting. Did I mention that I once had my own terraformed moon idea? "Blue Moon" I think I called it. Yeah, that's not horribly cliched.
