Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! Registration is free and instantaneous.

If someone has dared starting a topic about Pokèmon with realistic approach, why not this? :P

How would you build a feasible model as Rareware staff did for that videogame?

I would imagine Dinosaur being wiped out as in KT and Gondwana splitting roughly as did in Tertiary.
A slightly different oceanic circulation, would make savannas both in Palaeotropical and in Neotropical zoological regions (i.e Africa and South America).
Primates evolve in Africa up to Miocene-Pliocene and Crocodiles in Neotropica (South-America).

Imagine chimps and gorillas roaming in Africa and running, scavenger, terrestrial, quasi-bipedal and then bipedal crocs develope on the other side of Atlantic, then un to Nearctica (North America).

Now you can tease me ...til the hell freezes over for this *LOL* XD

Micro raptors had 4 wings and were adapted to gliding I think they would evolve differently from Birds.

I would also like to see Hesperornithe(those are the prehistoric diving Birds with tiny wings right?) Penguin equivelents at both poles.

Also Donkey Kong is always in a tropical enviroment. Meaning that the ice caps might be gone on what I think is a warmer Earth.
I am dyslexic, please ignore the typo's!

They weren't four 'true' wings, more like fins to glide further.
Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea.

Microraptor was capable of flying, and the "backwings" had the same function as the bird tail feathers. Basically, we would end up with birds that don't have a pygostyle and have legs with long feathers instead

Alright, so is it part of Aves? With a shortened tail?

No, because Microraptor is outside of Aves. It wouldn't be logical for its descendents to belong to another clade

So, will you create a new clade for it then?

Excuse me, but what Microraptor has to do with DKC?? As far as I know there's nothing like a Microraptor in Donkey Kong Country series creatures...

Its descendants could feature prominently.

The archosaurs I mean are "Crocodiles" Kremlings, likely evolved from basal ziphodont and heterodont (u.e with differentiated teeth) notosuchians up to humanoid form (Kremlinidae).

Aves have evolved and almost differentiated as in our world (see Squawk the Parrot). Some notable differences could be the long-beak woodpecker Swoopy or the Banana-birds (see DKC3).

Microraptor is quite offtopic *lol*

3.5m tall? That's one big bird.

I think we need a new category. In addition to General Spec, Alternative Evolution, Habitable Zone, etc, we should also have Pop Culture Spec, which is dedicated to speculating about the "science" of creatures and phenomena found in fiction.

In the end, the best advice I could give you would be to do your project in a way that feels natural to you, rather than trying to imitate some geek with a laptop in Colorado.
