Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

What if all non-avian dinosaurs didn't die out? After Dougal Dixon's famous book The New Dinosaurs: An Alternate Evolution many different people have asked that question. I will try to answer it.

Anybody who wants to is welcome to join. I'm a pretty crappy artist so I will probably need the assistance of 1 or 2 artists.
Timelines will be available if you guys request.

Well, most of the theropods retained a similiar body plan throughout the mesozoic, so i doubt they would change much.
Sauropods died out, and Hadrosaurs, anklyosaurs and ceratopsians were doing well, so they would carry on evolving.
Maniraptorans were very successful- but i doubt they would end up looking like people.
Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea.

Dinosaurs eat man, woman inherits the Earth.

Look at the Speculative Dino Project. Their view is quite accurate.

This kind of project is quite cliched actually, not as much as a future one but still very common

In fact, look at the motto.

"Sauropods died out"

Acually sauropods were present in North America, South America, possibly Africa, Europe, and Asia at the end of the Mesozoic.

I thought a few saurapods had held out in south america? They may have been on the way out, but they weren't quite gone yet....

Or did I hear wrong?

It was the titanosaurs if I'm not correct.

Yes, titanosaurs were the only sauropods to make it to the late Cretaceous.

With all this talk about titanosaurs I think I might write about them first, unless someone wants to hear about a different type of dino.

No, i meant the sauropods would've died out in your project.

What about in either Madagascar, New Zealand or Australia, having a clade of notosuchians that have taken the same niche and a similar body plan to Ratites !
