| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! I don't know if you have ever read any of these "theories", but some believe that humanity was the result of genetic engineering by aliens, 230 million years ago. Others even believe that it wasn't aliens, but future humans (which creates an incredible paradox) My point is, if this did happen (which I know it didn't, but still...), then which prehistoric lifeforms do you think have been genetically modified? My own personal vote goes for Tyrannosaurus Rex. I mean, what was up with those arms?... |

Most prehistoric animals we know of could perfectly have evolved naturally (yes, that includes t.rex. Those arms got small as the animals began to rely on their jaws alone to kill their prey). A few things like chalicotheres and Pristichampsus are quite confusing, but still... |

Oh, I know that they all evolved naturally,(or did they?...) but I just wondered what lifeforms people thought were different enough from the "norm" to be genetically altered. |

Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea. "It is the old wound my king. It has never healed." | |

When you say "dragons", are you refering to "prehistoric dragons whose remains haven't been discovered yet", or are you saying that they are a group that look as though they could have been gentically engineered? |

The platypus (no matter whether the modern one or it´s cretaceous ancestors) looks like a genetic experiment. Oh, and JohnFaa, what´s so confusing about Pristichampsus? There were dozens of terrestrial crocodiles in the history of Earth. |

But only it and the more derived mekosuchians (because most were aquatic) were from Eusuchia! |

You know the legends of beasts like griffins (or gryphons - which is the correct term?) or the chimera - well, could these be just legends and old-wives tales, or could they have actually existed? Genetically engineered? |

Maybe, but hybrids like that... immune rejection. Any attempt to stop that would leave the creature open to infection. Give it a lion's, goat's and snake's head, and they will kill each other. |

Commies? Nah we know how that monster evolved. I can't think of anything inexplicable. |

It is very strange anything as amazing as an Englishman evolved. |

Ok, I don't want to be like Sam, but we are starting to go off topic, now, a bit too much. |
