| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/8302535.stm Bagheera kiplingi, a spider found mainly in Central America/Mexico, is the first known species of spider to feed almost entirely on plants, specifically the protein-rich acacia plants. First we found fanged frogs that eat birds now we find vegetarian spiders? What else will the 21st Century bring us? |

We should all aspire to die surrounded by our dearest friends. Just like Julius Caesar. "The Lord Universe said: 'The same fate I have given to all things from stones to stars, that one day they shall become naught but memories aloft upon the winds of time. From dust all was born, and to dust all shall return.' He then looked upon His greatest creation, life, and pitied them, for unlike stars and stones they would soon learn of this fate and despair in the futility of their own existence. And so the Lord Universe decided to give life two gifts to save them from this despair. The first of these gifts was the soul, that life might more readily accept their fate, and the second was fear, that they might in time learn to avoid it altogether." - Excerpt from a Chanagwan creation myth, Legends and Folklore of the Planet Ghar, collected and published by Yieju Bai'an, explorer from the Celestial Commonwealth of Qonming Tree That Owns Itself

That would be cool. If a living anuragnathid was found in real life, in what part of the world would it most likely be found in. |

I was going to suggest Southeast Asia or New Guinea, but now I think I'll go with Johanesburg |

What's so bad about the Province of New Jersey, why is it treated at the butt monkey of the colonies? Also I never thought that we would find a herbivorous spider. What's next? A parasite that eats a fish's tongue, then taps into the fish's blood supply and lives in the fish's mouth acting as it's tongue? |

Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea. "It is the old wound my king. It has never healed." | |

Because Kalifornia said it'd sue everyone if we kept picking on them. New Jersey took the job since they needed the work. And some guy named Vito said 'Yo, it's not personal. It's business. Ya know? Fagetta 'bout it...." |

Well, it's a mass cultural movement-thing. There are a few reasons. The main one is it's popular. New York and New Jersey have always had a competition thing going on, similar to Kentucky and Tennesee. However, New York State has New York City, so it's a major center for every bit of interstate commerce in this country, plus many people are constantly moving in and out of the city. So the New York Culture spreads, including, the hatred of New Jersey. Second, the mob. New Jersey used to be a major hub of the mafia, for good reasons. Lots of waterways, and easy escape to Canada (in those days Canada would not extradite), and enough places to hide bodies. Plus corrupt police, New Jersey had a load of them, so the cops wouldn't do a thing as long as they got paid off. Finally the FBI went in, delt with the problems, and showed off what they did for good publicity. And it worked for a while, people loved the FBI for a few years. Sadly it had the same affect on New Jersey, everybody started hating it, and unlike a good name, you can rarely loose a bad one. Combine the two and you become a lightning rod of hate. |

Ah I see now. Odd how it's named after one of the nicest places not quite in the UK. Anyhow, Spiders. Is this a panda like dead end or could spiders start to fill the bug niche? |

New Jersey is filthy, that's why. The entire state is almost one huge, poorly-maintained city. |
