Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

From the fantastic comic http://dresdencodak.com/

But yeah, I love the fantastical creature designs here, but it's the ending that seals it for me. XD Ahah.

I like this page and find it interesting though I don't think an asteroid caused the permian extinction.

Also I like the thought that with less extinctions animals would develope many more symbiotic relationships, it gives some ideas certainly.
I am dyslexic, please ignore the typo's!

"Also I like the thought that with less extinctions animals would develope many more symbiotic relationships, it gives some ideas certainly."

It makes intuitive sense, seeing as how life seems to expand into more and more specialized niches with time...The question is whether specialized animals are culled too fast by ordinary extinction for their numbers to build up and their relationships with one another to complexify.

The symbiotic intelligence thing has been done before, but it's still a great idea :D .

(Is complexify a word? :P )
