| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. You know the alien. That face hugging, acid dripping, stomach bursting, cantankerous creature of HR Giger's fantastic imagination. We're talking about Ellen Ripley's nemesis and Ridley Scott's meal ticket. Terrifying and slightly resembling your boss, she has made an indelible impression on movie-goers for 30 years. Unfortunately that impression has been watered down as this ferocious beast of deep space has never been explaned. For this we want how it works. Is the facehugger, chestbuster, monster a working idea? Could it evolve? What good is it? So here is where to post ANYTHING that has to do with this space monster. |

Huh. So, the only constraint is facehugger size and burnination? What about the predalien pumping eggs down throats? |
|
Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea. "It is the old wound my king. It has never healed." | |

Good point it seems like the eggs have a predetermined size atleast when it comes to the Predalien eggs. By the way AVP2 is a horrible movie when it comes to quality and is a disgrace to both series. |

So are we going to talk about Xenomorphs or just the unlikely cool factor of every animal we can hybridise them with? |

Everything was perfectly possible untill predalien appeared. Not only that they are able to put eggs inside the victim like a facehugger, but also they possess the characteristics of both predator and alien, which makes it more confusing and rises a new wave of questions about aliens. Is the alien genetic code somehow related to the predator one? If that's the case, predators created aliens? Or aliens created predators? And why the fuck the predalien is the only alien race that is able to implant eggs to other species? It just makes it more confusing. |

Maybe they aren't related but something special in the Predator DNA messes with the Alien genetics in a way that fuses their inate genes for different forms? If that was the case then maybe they can implant eggs because they are part Face Hugger? |

Probably. Something in the predator DNA does not allow the facehugger genetic characteristics to turn off during the metamorphosis to chestbuster, allowing it to implant eggs like a facehugger. Still, why if a facehugger can only put one egg, the predalien is able to put various eggs? Or, more importantly, why the predalien puts fertile eggs? |

I have no idea though it could be that the number of eggs is a mutation while their fertility is a product of Predalien male hormones reacting to a generally female species creating a type of fertilisation from hormonal chemicals. This change in hormonal chemicals would effect behavior along with other brain chemicals which is why the Aliens produced by the Predalien follow it instead of a queen. |

Yes, but at least the predalien from the second movie was the product of a MALE alien infecting a MALE predator, so it makes no sense at all, unless all predators were hermaphrodites and the predalien took that trait from the predator father. |
