Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

You know the alien. That face hugging, acid dripping, stomach bursting, cantankerous creature of HR Giger's fantastic imagination. We're talking about Ellen Ripley's nemesis and Ridley Scott's meal ticket.

Terrifying and slightly resembling your boss, she has made an indelible impression on movie-goers for 30 years. Unfortunately that impression has been watered down as this ferocious beast of deep space has never been explaned. For this we want how it works. Is the facehugger, chestbuster, monster a working idea? Could it evolve? What good is it? So here is where to post ANYTHING that has to do with this space monster.

It could have been a much smaller creature, too. Perhaps just a little leech-like parasite...

We're taking the whole Aliens franchise together as one big, messy glob that doesn't always match up.

agatharights gets most of her canon from the AvP books because she is a neeeerd and because she thought there was going to be hot Predator-on-asian-chick action but there wasn't but that's okay.

From what I understand it is a weird mish mash. Some things have Aliens, Predators and Terminators in one universe.

Also, Aww look at him/her. It almost looks like a person.

Except for Aliens vs. Superman. We're going to pretend that didn't happen.

Batman vs. Predators can be canon, though. :D Because that was awesome.

Actually, ultrasound technology gets better by almost 50-% every year. I actually got to see them do the 3D model thing (which was crazy) but her arm was in front of her face so it got distorted. Alas.

But yeah, ultrasounds are crazy useful now. woo.

Oh, and for the record, Batman vs. Predator was a tie. :D And that's why Batman has a predator mask in the batcave somewhere.
