| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. i find blacks attractive, whites attractive, yellows attractive, browns attractive... i dunno if this is normal so i don't think it's specifically the orientals that get this thing... i also know several white dudes who prefer black chicks over all others |

Meh, I'm not too into Asians, except perhaps for Indians (though they aren't technically Asian). And I would be lying if I said I had never seen a black women I found sexy before (though it's a rare sight in America, as most black women here are fat). Though I still for some reason prefer white women (I'm white if you hadn't guessed) over all others. Particularly redheads. It makes me wonder why every individual human finds a particular grouping of traits more appealing sexually than others. Is it because we have such a wide variety of traits as opposed to other animals? Is it purely psychological? Is it random? Is it pre-programmed into our DNA based on our previous heredity (that one is very iffy)? Seriously, I'm asking here, do we know or is it still a mystery to science? |

We should all aspire to die surrounded by our dearest friends. Just like Julius Caesar. "The Lord Universe said: 'The same fate I have given to all things from stones to stars, that one day they shall become naught but memories aloft upon the winds of time. From dust all was born, and to dust all shall return.' He then looked upon His greatest creation, life, and pitied them, for unlike stars and stones they would soon learn of this fate and despair in the futility of their own existence. And so the Lord Universe decided to give life two gifts to save them from this despair. The first of these gifts was the soul, that life might more readily accept their fate, and the second was fear, that they might in time learn to avoid it altogether." - Excerpt from a Chanagwan creation myth, Legends and Folklore of the Planet Ghar, collected and published by Yieju Bai'an, explorer from the Celestial Commonwealth of Qonming Tree That Owns Itself

You are not unique. If she is not hideous and more importantly if she is not a bitch, I'll like her. When I try to pin down my ideal woman I can rarely get it down to characteristics that have to be combined to make 3 different people (She needs to be taller, slightly shorter and a lot shorter than me, with a almost flat, medium very large chest with bicoloured , blue and brown eyes, with very pale, tanned, darkish skin and brown, black and white hair that is very long, shoulder length, very short) I used to think I had a lot of weird fetishes. Including Neanderthals, in fact that was one of the very earliest things I fantasied about that was a but unusual. But then I discovered what the internet is for, and found I'm pretty much vanilla. EDIT. To answer your question I am quite sure there is a theory that we are sexually attracted to people who look most like us, but we having been imprinted on. So you probably won't find your sister hot, and there is a good chance you will find the cousin you never met before hot. I know I heard that on a CSI episode (so it might be dodgy), and I am 90% sure I read it in a book on human behaviour. But that does not explain people into exotic things. For me Oriental women are most attractive, especially ones form North Asia like Manchu, Japanese and Korean. But I grew up in an environment without them. Almost everyone I knew was either Black, White or ethnic Indian. I have only seen a few orientals in the flesh, and only interacted with one. And that does not explain odd fetishes. I think some of it has to be environmental. If you are born that way, what where the people into latex doing before it was discovered? Edited by lamna, Aug 31 2009, 04:58 PM.

I doubt that, as I'm fat and have dark brown hair, and though not many men like a fat woman, if what you say is true that I should (as I've been fat all my life), and I don't. Plus I have trouble making distinctions between faces anyways (which is probably why I don't stereotype or group people into specific "cliques" based on outward appearances; all you humans look alike to me), but I guess that can go either way. It's probably a combination of several factors, which is why we can't explain it. |

I have problems of telling people apart if they are not Indo-Aryan because that is not what I was raised with. Depends what you mean by fat. If you mean a little chunky, the kind of "fat" some women think is the end of the world then generally that is what men prefer. It probably is, I'm fairly sure the being attracted to opposite gender, non-imprinted people has something to it. I was very aware of it when I visited my cousins house as I was growing up. |

No, I'm pretty much obese. And I'm not into even slightly fat women. But I guess it doesn't really matter, now does it? If we were all into the same thing, there would be a lack of strange fetishes in the world. And without those, where are we going to get funny movies or politicians?

Not bony, but not chubby. Just average weight is what I meant. So on another note, has anyone even answered the question the topic was originally started for? Because we've gotten pretty far off topic. |

i'm glad such wide preferences isn't unique, that would be very strange... anyway, i find whites to be easier to tell apart at a distance due to the variety in hair and eye color... but if you put a bunch of brown haired blue eyed white folk next to eachother at a distance from me i'll likely take a little while... I've found that i rely on clothing rather than faces for quick recognition. telling apart faces is easy for me when given a moment and closer proximity than i usually keep no matter what race the people are. what i have difficulty distinguishing is what race people are unless it is strikingly obvious like they have snow white hands and red face with big blue eyes and bright yellow hair, or so black they can hide at night by standing still. i kid of course, but really i mistake whites for yellows and browns, browns for whites or blacks, yellows for browns and whites, and so on... it's never got me into any problems but i've find it interesting... |

At a distance I mostly recognise people by there coats and bags. I'm very bad at telling people apart within large ethnic groups. I doubt I could tell a German from a Slav unless they talked. I could probably tell the difference between Han and Manchu/Korean/Japanese but probably not any of the three apart. |
