Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! Registration is free and instantaneous.

Immortality is impossible in the most physically accurate meaning of the word.

Try again.
Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea.

I had an idea. If all fragment forms of life matamorphisis filling in eacosystam nichs then could this be... all henders lifeforms are the same speices at different stages in their lifecycle? Reminds me of a project I once had planed but never did.

So, a disk-ant grows up and morphs into a henders wasp, which morphs into a drill-worm, which morphs into one of the bloodsucking trees, which morphs into a spriger which lays eggs which hach into henders rats and mice who themselves morph between forms at each lifestage. There is only one speices in the whole ecosystam.

They would surely want to propagate their species- so why kill their own?

Surely it couldn't survive on blood alone, and even the venus fly trap photosynthesises. With such an abundant energy source, you'd think...

It looks like one. We call creatures by inaucreat names based on the way the look often, marsupeil mole for example. It's not a mole it just looks like one but it's named like it is one.
