| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! I came with another speculative world. What if plants became the dominant group of organisms because animals would have somehow never evolved or have gotten extinct in a very early stage of evolution. Would it in this case be possible for plants to evolve a nervous system and even evolve animal-like forms? |

I had an idea for a plant that takes advantage of high altitudes and updrafts. it has a gas filled sack inside the ryzome [it's a fern] that allows it to float, giveing it direct sunlight away from competition. its roots are also air roots, so it can take in gases to restore its gas sack. it's seeds are small and very lightweight so it doesn't need to create drag with a parachute. |

I think is C12 H24 O6 (maybe C12 H24 O12). Anyway, I hope you don't mind, but I may write something set on this world. |

I can't see how you've managed this. I think animal evolution is much faster paced, competitive, and interesting than plants. |

Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea. "It is the old wound my king. It has never healed." | |

I kinda liked this thread: wonderfully 'what-if'. If it wasn't baseball season, I'd try to throw a few ideas out plants migration. |
